Charlie Cox's Daredevil: Born Again is almost here, and to intensify fan excitement, the actor has revealed some crucial details. However, before diving into what Cox shared, here's what the show is all about:

Daredevil: Born Again also serves as the original Netflix series sequel and will kick off right where the blind Lawyer's journey ended in Daredevil Season 3. While it brings back the key characters, the upcoming season will explore new threats in Hell’s Kitchen.

At the heart of the story is Daredevil's longstanding rivalry with Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin. But in the beginning, we'll see that Murdock had left being a vigilante and, as explained by Charlie Cox, his character went through a "traumatic event". The Spider-Man: No Way Home star shared:

"At the beginning of this season, there's a very traumatic event, which is going to change Matt Murdock's life… "

The actor continued:

"He'll probably never be the same again. I'm still not convinced it's the right thing to do, but we have to come back big and bold, you know, we’ve got to make a statement after all these years away, and what it does do is it's a wonderful catalyst for the rest of the story."

While Cox didn't mention the exact event that led Matt to retire for being Daredevil, the actor did say that the event is significant enough to shake Matt’s faith and make him question everything.

Get ready to dive into the world of action and dark humor, as Matt Murdock will finally take on his vigilante after an unexpected retirement. Ahead of the release of Daredevil: Born Again on Disney+, Charlie Cox has teased a traumatic event in his character's life.

As previously mentioned, the Legacy star avoided revealing the event, but fans on Reddit didn't hesitate in suspecting what it could be. According to a theory, a user has suggested that since the upcoming series is set around winter 2025, during the New York elections, Matt's decision to retire might have happened recently.

The theory suggested says that Daredevil: Born Again could be adapted from a storyline from Chip Zdarsky’s run, where Matt accidentally kills a man during a fight. Per the Reddit post:

"The best theory I have seen is that they could be adapting the first storyline from Chip Zdarsky's run of Matt accidentally killing a man."

The speculation continues:

"Which I would be so down for that because I read that first volume for the first time this year and loved it. I wonder if it would be too much to hope for a Spider-man cameo then, like in that first story."

If this turns out to be true, Matt Murdock is expected to be deeply shaken by the event, questioning his moral code and stepping away from his role as Daredevil. However, this hasn't been confirmed, so fans should entrirly rely on this speculation.
