The 98th Oscars ceremony will be hosted by none other than Conan O'Brien. This update comes within weeks after the revered comedian hosted the 2025 ceremony. He kept a healthy mix of silly and smart to offer huge laughs throughout the event. Whether a smartly-placed quip about the Kendrick-Drake feud or the "Chalamet" moment with Adam Sandler in a hoodie, Conan ensured that there would be something for everyone.
The ceremony was reportedly watched by 19.69 million people and received significant positive traction on social media. Considering this overwhelmingly positive reception, it doesn't seem surprising that the Academy has confirmed Conan's return. After this announcement, Conan shared a statement that was as funny as the jokes he presented.
“The only reason I’m hosting the Oscars next year is that I want to hear Adrien Brody finish his speech.”
Through this quip, Conan refers to The Brutalist star Adrien Brody's speech, which is the longest in the ceremony, per reports.
Conan O'Brien will return to host the 98th Oscars in March 2026

There is no such thing as too much Conan O'Brien! That may not be coming just from Conan's fans since the Academy has decided to bring him back to host the 98th Oscars. He will be joined by his long-time collaborators, Jeff Ross and Mike Sweeney.
Emmy-winning Katy Mullan and Raj Kapoor will also return as the show's producers. In a statement, they said,
"We are both so honored to be returning in our roles for the 98th Oscars. We can’t wait to work with Conan and his entire team as we continue to explore even more special and heartfelt opportunities to celebrate next year’s nominees and the impact of film around the world.”
The Academy President Janet Yang and CEO Bill Kramer also offered a joint statement. They said,
“We are thrilled to bring back Conan, Raj, Katy, Jeff, and Mike for the 98th Oscars! This year, they produced a hugely entertaining and visually stunning show that celebrated our nominees and the global film community in the most beautiful and impactful way. Conan was the perfect host — skillfully guiding us through the evening with humor, warmth, and reverence. It is an honor to be working with them again.”
Conan is not the first late-night television host to be hosting the Oscars more than once. Johnny Carson has done it four times and so has Jimmy Kimmel. Besides the 97th and the 98th Oscars, Conan has also hosted the Emmy Awards and the White House Correspondents' Dinner.
The 98th Oscars ceremony will take place on March 15, 2026.
