Chris O'Donnell joins new '9-1-1' spinoff in major role following 'NCIS: LA' success

9-1-1: Nashville, the newest 9-1-1 spinoff, has been officially commissioned by ABC for the 2025–2026 season. The show will incorporate Nashville, Tennessee's unique ambiance. This will be done while focusing on the lives of first responders in the city.

Chris O'Donnell will play Captain Don Sharpe, a fire captain who oversees a busy firehouse while juggling personal secrets and family obligations. Brad Falchuk, Angela Bassett, Tim Minear, and Ryan Murphy will serve as the program's executive producers.

9-1-1: Nashville is anticipated to provide interesting new storylines within the franchise. Further casting and narrative specifics are still pending.

O'Donnell, well known for his long-running character on NCIS: Los Angeles as Special Agent G. Callen, will portray Captain Don Sharpe, a devoted fire captain who also rides a rodeo.

Don manages Nashville's busiest firehouse with his son, but he has a few secrets underneath his strong, family-oriented appearance. This multifaceted character allows O'Donnell to exhibit his range. Playing complicated, action-packed parts, making him an excellent candidate for the job.

Prior to his popularity on NCIS: Los Angeles, O'Donnell appeared in prominent films. This includes Batman Forever, Scent of a Woman, and Fried Green Tomatoes.

He has also appeared in major television shows. This includes Grey's Anatomy and The Company.

In February 2025, ABC gave Nashville the formal go-ahead. This granted a straight-to-series order. O'Donnell's portrayal of Captain Sharpe promises an interesting blend of action, drama, and intimate narrative.

This offshoot is an exciting extension of the 9-1-1 universe. This offers a unique viewpoint on the first responder community in a dynamic new environment.
