NBC has been a popular network over the years with its procedural drama streak in different segments, and Chicago Fire is one of its many iconic creations. Amidst new releases and cast changes, the latest reports from multiple sources have recently confirmed that popular star Eamonn Walker will reprise his role as Wallace Boden for Season 13, and the title of the episode will be Post-Mortem.
This newest development has piqued the excitement among fans who last saw Walker playing a major role in 2024 for Chicago Fire Season 12, shortly before his exit. Walker's return to Chicago Fire has already caused a social media tumult, and we will witness him again this April.
His previous appearance as the Chicago Fire Department's First Deputy Commissioner has added much value to the show since his 2012 debut. However, Boden has now been assigned with a highly critical task, and we cannot wait to see how he once again graces the small screen with his everlasting presence.
Chicago Fire Season 13 will soon be back with Eamonn Walker as Wallace Boden
Eamonn Walker will soon be back to Chicago Fire, and the internet is already bursting with emotions. The last time we saw him as Wallace Boden (First Deputy Commissioner of Firehouse 51), he had a new job awaiting him with more responsibilities.
Eventually, following Boden's promotion, his place (as the leading officer) in Firehouse 51 was taken up by new chief Dom Pascal (portrayed by Dermot Mulroney). However, Chicago Fire Season 13 Episode 18 will see Boden returning to the fire department under a task that Commissioner Grissom assigns him.
NBC will exclusively air the much-anticipated episode Post-Mortem, on April 16, 2025, at 9/8c. The premise explores a house fire where things go awry as a firefighter gets stuck inside while trying to bring the situation under control. The building collapses and leads to an unprecedented situation that demands some critical analysis post the disaster.
Boden will return as the investigating officer on the case under Commissioner Grissom, and the story has reportedly been "told with flashbacks and unique POVs", as described by helmer Andrea Newman. Per Variety, her exact words were:
"We’re so excited to have our beloved Chief Boden back, and the episode, titled ‘Post-Mortem is a thrill ride unlike any we’ve done before. Told with flashbacks and unique POVs, Chief Boden leads our team on a search to discover the how, who, and why of a fierce firefight that ended in disaster."
Chicago Fire first aired on October 12, 2012, and continues as a part of the famous One Chicago universe. The show was created by Derek Haas and Michael Brandt alongside Universal Television in association with Wolf Entertainment as well as Open 4 Business Productions.
