The fans of Marvel's The Man Without Fear are waiting with bated breath for the revival, which is just a week away. Announced at SDCC 2022, the continuation of the original Netflix series that will turn a decade old on April 10, 2025, was titled Daredevil: Born Again. The title had fans wondering if the upcoming season is adapting the iconic comic book storyline of the same name.

However, during a recent interview with Mr. Will Wong, British actor Charlie Cox clarified the meaning behind the title. He said that the "Born Again" in the title is more of a meta nod to the show returning to the screens rather than an adaptation of the acclaimed and beloved 1986 comic book storyline Daredevil: Born Again written by Frank Miller. He said:

“Yeah, it’s important we’re not doing the ‘born again’ story. The name of the Show is really just a reference to coming back after so many years and of course, an homage to Frank, an icon.”

What did Charlie Cox say about the upcoming Marvel show Daredevil: Born Again's title?

Ever since the show was announced back in 2022, a lot of fans were under the impression that Daredevil: Born Again would be an adaptation of Miller's Born Again. But that couldn't have been farther from the truth as the iconic storyline was already adapted all the way back in 2018 for the third season of Netflix's Daredevil. Granted that season 3 made a few changes here and there, it was still an adaptation.

Season 3 picks right after the finale of The Defenders. Everyone believes that Matt has perished because of the building collapsing on him. However, unbeknownst to them, Matt survives it, and he needs to heal his body to face Fisk again, who is after the lawyer and his friends. While it looks interesting on the surface level, those who have read the Marvel Comics know it to be the plot of Born Again, published in 1986.

Published between February and August 1986 by Marvel Comics, Daredevil: Born Again puts The Man Without Fear through a ringer. Matt is betrayed by someone very close to him as they reveal his double life as Daredevil. Fisk soon learns of Matt's secret, and he immediately implements a vicious scheme to strip Matt of everything. The entire story is about how Matt finally gets his life back.

Are you disappointed that the upcoming show will not be adapting the comic of the same title? You can easily purchase the beloved Frank Miller comic or watch the thirteen-episode third season of the Netflix series that faithfully adapts the iconic and celebrated storyline on Disney+ before Daredevil: Born Again releases on March 4, 2025.
