Warner Bros. plans to renew the Harry Potter movie series through an official HBO series depiction of the same. HBO has announced an open casting call for young actors to play the roles of Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger.
For the adaptation of this upcoming series, the studio is looking for profiles of children aged 9 to 11 from only the UK and Ireland to portray these iconic lead roles. These characters in Harry Potter were famously played by Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson in the movie series.
How to take part in the open casting call for HBO's Harry Potter series?
To apply for the open casting call, applicants must submit two videos. Such can be done on castittalent.com by October 31, 2024. The casting will reportedly be open to people of all races, gender identities, and ethnicities.
In the first video, the child must recite a short poem or story of their choice, which can be from a favorite book, a beloved poem, a monologue from a play, or something original that they may have created. Any of the above should not be from the Harry Potter franchise. A very natural British accent is what the studio is looking for, and the clip must be compact and within 30 seconds.
The second video needs them to introduce themselves, including their date of birth, height, and where they live, as well as a brief description of a family member, friend, or pet that they are especially close to. Yet again, they are expected to speak in their natural accent, and this video must be within one minute.
When recording, any device such as a smartphone or iPhone is perfectly acceptable, but applicants must ensure that there is no background noise.
The child should be filmed looking directly into the camera, or close to it, in a well-lit, quiet room with a plain background. Their face must be clearly visible and they should wear whatever makes them feel comfortable. Record the video in landscape mode, framing the shot to include their head and shoulders.
Submissions for this casting call of the Harry Potter series can only be made via the official Cast It website. Any other site offering to submit applications or charging fees is not authorized by HBO.

Production of this TV series is scheduled to kick start in April 2025, with season 1 set to cover the happenings of the novel series. According to sources like Wizarding World, the show will be steered by showrunner Francesca Gardiner, with Mark Mylod directing multiple episodes of what is planned to be a grand project that will go on for a decade.
Joining them as executive producers are J.K. Rowling, Neil Blair, and Ruth Kenley-Letts from Brontë Film and TV, alongside David Heyman from Heyday Films.
