Shark Tank investor Mark Cuban discusses the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Mark Cuban from Shark Tank recently made an appearance in a podcast wth Jon Stewart. During their conversation, the two decided to discuss crypto and DAO (Distributed Autonomous Organization), the serial entrepreneur discussed the potential of AI and its application when it comes to streamlining environmental regulations, specifically those under NEPA (National Environmental Policy Act).

"In my opinion, and the conversations I had with some of the Harris folks is that's where AI really, really can apply it. Because there's a process designed for the people in NEPA who go through and determine what should be approved and what data is required and how it's, you know, what friction should be added or what friction should be removed."

He further adds how AI can help if all the data from the bureaucracy is added to the language model and trained,

"It's onerous. There's tons of bureaucracy, but tons of data there. You put that into artificial intelligence into a large language model. And you let, you know, you use that to train the large language model."

Further, Jon Stewart and the Shark Tank investor discuss the agility of government emphasizing how actionable problem-solving may be more effective than reliance on language models such as AI. While Jon referred to the housing issues and fire incident in Pennsylvania, Cuban through light on how AI can help me in decision-making during these curious hours,

"The challenge is who makes that decision? When it's obvious, it's easy. When it's not so obvious, it's far more difficult. And so that's where the AI comes in in large language models because across the breadth...you don't want individuals having to make those decisions."

Stewart further emphasized that running for office is mainly the job of the candidates to provide a clear vision and earn the trust of the people, and how AI's lack of accountability can't match that,

"At least with people, there is a certain regime of accountability that we can bring through. I can’t vote out a large language model."

Shark Tank's OG Mark Cuban clarifies,

"AI is not used to make final decisions but for all the administrativia that happens between the application being made and the point where a presentation is made to a board of some sort who would make the final decision."
