Ceberated for its original concept and provoking deep discussions about work, identity, and memory, Severance is returning on Apple TV+ with Season 2 on January 17, 2025. At the heart of the series is Mark Scout (played by Adam Scott), who works in a fictional biotech company, Lumon Industries.
Scout's company is known for its mysterious corporation and a highly controversial practice. Each employee in the company undergoes a surgical procedure called severance, which splits their consciousness into two completely separate identities: Innie (work self) and Outie (personal self).
While Innie only exists within the workplace, Outie knows nothing about their work life and focuses on their personal life. The company wields immense power over its employees, and the surgical procedure also begins to take a toll on their mental health.

Among the standout characters in Severance is Britt Lower's Helly R., who fiercely resists the severance process in her company. She's seen as a rebel against Lumon’s oppressive system who refuses to get manipulated and controlled by the company.
During her interview with Vogue on January 6, 2025, Lower shared that every person involved in the show has worked tirelessly to build on the cliffhanger ending of Season 1, and now she's excited as Season 2 is almost here. The actress said:
"There has been a lot of thought and sweat put into building a bridge from that cliffhanger so that it’s sturdy. I’m really excited for people to see it and walk across the bridge with us."
The actress also shed light on her dual roles as Helly R and Helena Eagan and explained that there are two strong-willed parts of the same person who exist in different circumstances. Lower mentioned that she reinforced Helly’s role as a rebellious catalyst, and her determination to question authority will continue in Severance Season 2.
