The Irish detective series Borderline is reportedly set to stream on Roku’s channel, as exclusively reported by Variety. Borderline is a production of Lionsgate Television and will premiere on September 1, 2024, in the United States. Per the publication, the show is one of seven “internationally acquired” shows co-produced by Lionsgate.

Directed by Robert Quinn, the show has a plethora of talented crew members, including critically acclaimed writer John Forte—Borderline's primary writer. Joining him as executive producers are Steve November and Mary Callery. Lionsgate has partnered with other major production houses for Borderline, including ShinAwiL, Screen Ireland, and Further South Productions.

Cast members include protagonists Eoin Macken and Amy De Bhrun, who are playing detectives Philip and Aoife, respectively. Both actors are veterans of the industry and have appeared in several Hollywood movies.

Macken's projects include Resident Evil (2002), Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, Nightflyers, and The Hole in the Ground. Likewise, Bhrun has appeared in Blackshore, Jason Bourne, Gridlock, and The Stag.

When will Borderline be available on Roku?

Per the publication, Borderline will be released in the U.S. on September 1, 2024. Viewers from the U.S. can stream the show on Roku, as mentioned earlier. Since the show has two seasons, whether both will be released on the streaming platform is yet to be confirmed.

Furthermore, the publication revealed that Borderline will be released internationally on MGM+ in the UK on September 2, 2024. Ireland and the UK will share the same release date and platform for watching Borderline.

What is the plot of Borderline?

As mentioned earlier, Borderline features two detectives—Philip and Aoife. While Philip appears to maintain a filter of emotion, his partner Aoife prefers to remain detached and cuts to the chase. Moreover, from the official synopsis of the show, Aoife is said to have a “foul mouth.”

The duo is reluctantly paired together to solve a series of horrific crimes in their vicinity. Furthermore, to crack their cases efficiently and deliver swift justice to the fallen victims, they must set aside all differences.

The show is set to feature several “brutal cases along the border” that Philip and Aoife will have to solve. The plot insinuates that the duo will initially have some friction, but for the sake of the victim and the case itself, they will eventually call a truce.

Is there a trailer for Borderline?

Both actors Macken and Bhrun have shared a glimpse of the trailer on their official Instagram profiles. The trailer gives a look into their dynamic as detectives and also highlights the kind of cases they're working on. The aforementioned teaser is to announce the show's release in the UK on MGM+. Roku has yet to follow suit and release the trailer on their website.
