The Landman finale was nothing less than a high-stakes drama, that kept fans hooked throughout its run. Now that Season 1 has wrapped up, many might be curious about the future of the series, as neither Taylor Sheridan nor Paramount Plus have confirmed the renewal.

However, the lead actor Billy Bob Thornton shed light on the finale and his reaction to a potential Landman Season 2. The actor who lost his Malibu home in the 1993 wildfires also talked about the ongoing L.A. fires in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

While expressing solidarity with the victims of the fire, Thornton said:

"I just want to say my heart goes out to all those people in L.A. who are going through these terrible fires."

He continued:

"We lost our house in ‘93 in the Malibu fires; so, I’ve been through it. And it’s so devastating. So, we have to wake up every day and realize the most important thing is life and limb and family."

The Landman actor emphasized the safety of one's family as the top priority, which was also seen in the Paramount+ series when Tommy Norris is highly concerned about his kids and ex-wife who has been trying to reconcile with Tommy since the first episode.

As mentioned above, the Landman Season 1 finale was a blend of personal and corporate drama, in which the crisis executive Tommy Norris feels pressure from all sides—his family, his career in the oil industry, and the dangerous cartel conflict.

Following Monty's uncertain fate due to his heart surgery, Tommy takes on the lead of M-Tex but is soon abducted and tortured by the cartel leader Jimenez (Alex Meraz). However, in a surprising twist, Tommy is saved by Jimenez's boss Gallino.

Thorton also talked about the filming of Season 1 and mentioned his dedication to performing his own stunts like the ones involving physically grueling torture. The actor, in the same interview with The Hollywood Reporter, said:

"In those kinds of scenes, you just have to put yourself in that place... By the time we did the outside scene, I could barely stand up. So, there’s no acting going on there. I would lean on the wall between every take. (Laughs.)"

Despite being exhausted, Billy Bob Thornton gave his all for an authentic portal of the crisis executive in the oil industry. When asked about the season finale, the actor mentioned his camaraderie with Andy Garcia, who appeared in the finale to save Tommy.

Thornton felt that in the finale, it was "very natural and real to have two grizzled-in veterans facing off against each other" and also praised how Taylor Sheridan crafted the series. As for Landman Season 2, Thornton said:

"Well, the first question about season two, we don’t know officially that we’re going to have one. Usually shows that are this successful, they’d do it again; so, I can only imagine that they would, but I don’t know for sure."

Even though Tommy Norris is the new boss now, this doesn't mean that conflicts won't arise in the future. While Season 2 isn't confirmed, fans would always love to see more of Thornton, especially now that his responsibilities and power have doubled.
