New episodes of Daredevil: Born Again are currently airing and they are being met with wholesome audience admiration.
Executive producer and showrunner Dario Scardapane recently appeared in an interview with IGN where he hinted at the return of Jon Bernthal's Punisher into the world of Matt Murdock, shedding light on a Frank Castle storyline that has the potential to encompass the two dynamic characters.
Joe Bernthal appeared as Frank Castle in the second season of Netflix's Marvel's Daredevil and it has been close to seven years since the fan-favorite anti-hero has been seen alongside Matt Murdock.
Here's everything that we know.
Dario Scardapane talks about the Punisher's return to Daredevil: Born Again
Dario Scardapane was brought on board the team of Daredevil: Born Again following the much-publicised creative overhaul that the Marvel show underwent, replacing the original showrunners Chris Ord and Matt Corman. Scardapane was previously associated with Netflix's iteration of the vigilante show and has also worked with Jon Bernthal. Speaking about the Frank Castle storyline in the IGN interview, Scardapane commented:
"There is a Frank Castle storyline that is, I think, deep and rich and has been begging to be told. It was in one of the comics, but Frank's appearance is not random. It comes back to (the idea) of who is a vigilante, who's good, who's bad, and Frank is one of those incredibly galvanizing characters. Frank comes into our world with a purpose. That purpose is executed. Does it have something to do with these men that we see in that apartment? Yes.”
Although the Punisher hasn't yet made an appearance on Daredevil: Born Again, his participation has been confirmed and teased by the show's trailers. A Punisher tattoo spotted on the arm of one of the police officers who framed the White Tiger further attests to this fact.

Jon Bernthal was already on the cards for reprising his role. Along with Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio, he was one of the three stars from the Netflix show who were slated to appear on the Marvel iteration. Speaking to TVLine before the release of the Disney+ show, Scardapane had remarked:
"Jon is near and dear to my heart. It was amazing to come back and get to work with him again.”
When asked about the situation that would feature Castle's return, Scardapane answered:
"I feel that whenever Frank comes into the story, hijinks ensue, and in this story, that is very, very true. He comes in for a very, very particular reason, he is brought in by a very, very particular person, and I think that it will be immensely satisfying — and a bit like, ‘Oh, my God'. Whenever you put Frank and Daredevil together, all bets are off. It’s a tornado. I mean… we broke some stuff!"
