Wheel of Fortune premiered its grand 42nd season on Monday, September 9, and bid a hearty farewell to the veteran host Pat Sajak, who was replaced by media baron Ryan Seacrest.

Ryan Seacrest joined Vanna White, who has been co-hosting the show since 1982. The reality TV game show invites contestants to spin the iconic wheel, solve puzzles, and win substantial cash and prizes.

Ryan Seacrest is not new to the world of reality TV, but he certainly felt the need to fill "big shoes" as he stepped into the position of former maestro Pat Sajak. He talked about his experience of hosting the legendary show Wheel of Fortune in an exclusive interview with People at the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Festival on Friday, September 20.

Ryan told the interviewer that Vanna White had been a motivation and a friend in his journey as the new host of such an established show. He said:

"She said, ‘Just go out there and have fun and be yourself'."

As an American television presenter and producer, Ryan Seacrest has a long history in media and has been a prominent host of popular shows such as American Idol, Live with Kelly and Ryan, New Year's Rockin' Eve, and many more.

He was also nominated for Emmys for his work on American Idol from 2004 to 2013. Fans will now see him hosting the celebrated reality TV game show Wheel of Fortune.

In the interview with People on September 20, Ryan shared how Vanna White's advice played an important role in helping him transition into the role of host for Wheel of Fortune. He said:

"We have known each other for two decades. We're friends, which has made it really, really nice and comfortable."

He further added that the show has a human touch, which makes it more enjoyable for both contestants and viewers. He explained:

"The good thing about this game show is that you get to be yourself. It has a little looseness to it. It doesn't have to be so strict and so formatted. It has those moments of real life and humanity.”

Ryan mentioned that he has been a big fan of the show and knows a great deal about it. He talked about the contestants who participated in Wheel of Fortune and made substantial amounts of money, noting that they feel inclined to return because of their experiences on the show.

He told the interviewer:

"They walk away with $114,000, $63,000, $42,000. This is life-changing money, and it's so incredible to see their reaction to that. And they get to do it again every night.”

Wheel of Fortune will air its episodes on weeknights at 6:30 pm on CBS.
