Sometimes, life is a turbulent sea, and, in Bad Sisters, the Garvey sisters are navigating without a life jacket.

With Angelica's body floating as a literal reminder that secrets don't stay buried for long (or sunk, in this case), the sixth episode of Bad Sisters' second season proves that chaos follows the Garvey sisters like a persistent shadow.

So, did they manage to cover up Angelica's accident? The long story short is... well, let's say yes and no. The cleanup was done (more or less), but the consequences of this improvised "operation" promise to leave deeper scars than any exfoliation can heal.

Let's dissect this episode of Bad Sisters as if Ian were tampering with evidence.

Bad Sisters: A Hitchcock-worthy scene—Blood, cameras, and lies

It all begins with Angelica's body swaying in the waves, and urgency takes over. Ian, in another one of his "heroic" (but selfish) moves, decides to disable a camera that could incriminate everyone.

Of course, he enters an elderly woman's house under the pretext of fixing a radiator and, like a true improvisation master, copies the camera data to a USB drive.

If this isn't suspicious enough, Ian's attitude in forcing the sisters to clean the boat only reinforces that he is more interested in saving his skin than protecting any of them.

With her direct personality and zero patience for Ian's nonsense, Bibi watches his every move with eagle eyes. She knows something is wrong, but her attempts to alert the sisters end up falling on distracted ears, especially Eva's, who is trapped in an emotional storm involving the same man Bibi is suspicious of.

Ian: The captain of the sinking ship?

Ian is a character who floats between being a savior and a born manipulator. His closeness with Eva crossed the line of cordiality long ago, and now he seems to be using this connection as a lever to divide the sisters.

The scene where he and Eva finally discuss that stolen (or scandalous, depending on the perspective) kiss is loaded with tension, revealing how far Ian is willing to play with her emotions to achieve his goals.

Meanwhile, Bibi, the moral (or at least practical) compass of the Garveys, finally confronts Ian more incisively. The scene where she directly asks who he is works as a cathartic moment, but also as a threat that Ian's house of cards is about to collapse.

Houlihan and Loftus: Investigation in alleys and shortcuts

On the other side of the board, Houlihan is just steps away from unraveling the puzzle, but Loftus does everything possible to disrupt it. When he plants money in the evidence to try and divert the course of the investigation, Houlihan immediately recognizes the dirty play.

While she is threatened, it's clear she won't give up so easily. Houlihan is like a moral anchor, and her determination promises to bring major twists in the upcoming episodes of Bad Sisters Season 2.

References between the lines: Leonard Cohen and the Waters of Dublin

"Who by Water", the title of episode 6 season 2 of Bad Sisters, is not just another poetic name thrown around by chance—it's a not-so-subtle nod to Leonard Cohen's song "Who by Fire", which in turn reimagines the Jewish prayer Unetanneh Tokef.

This prayer, chanted on Yom Kippur, reflects on the different paths that lead to the end of a life: by fire, water, or life's trials. It's a choice that perfectly echoes the Garvey sisters' dilemmas, trapped between secrets and sacrifices, where each decision brings consequences as unpredictable as they are inevitable.

And it doesn't stop there. The narrative is carried by real locations in Dublin, which act as silent but powerful characters. The Forty Foot in Sandycove, a traditional outdoor swimming spot, emerges as the backdrop for moments of tension and reflection.

Dublin's narrow alleys and streets accentuate the claustrophobic atmosphere Each space tells a story as much as the characters' dialogues or actions. And so, Bad Sisters transforms its setting into a mirror for the sisters' internal turmoil—and, of course, for the viewer, who feels the water rising to their neck along with them.

When covering tracks creates new waves of problems

Did the Garveys manage to cover up the accident? Technically, yes. But the price of this cover-up is high.

The tensions between the sisters are on the verge of exploding, with Eva letting herself be carried away by Ian and Bibi trying to keep everyone in line, while Becka is going through her emotional dilemmas with the pregnancy discovery, and finds herself torn between protecting the group and dealing with her insecurities.

The series does a majestic job of exploring the bonds that connect these women—and suspense at the same time. Each choice, each lie, and each misunderstanding deepen the emotional gap between them, leaving us on the edge of the sofa, waiting to see who will be the first to break.

What to expect from the next chapter?

With only two episodes remaining of Bad Sisters Season 2, the question is: how far will the Garvey sisters go to protect each other? Angelica's body has been removed from focus, but the consequences of this action continue to reverberate.

Ian might be the biggest villain of this season, but is he alone in his manipulation? And Houlihan, will she be able to overcome the obstacles imposed by Loftus and get to the truth?

Between secrets, betrayals, and decisions that challenge the limits of morality, Bad Sisters continues to deliver a narrative as engaging as it is unpredictable. One thing is certain: in the next episode, the tide will rise—and maybe there will be no escaping this time.
