With The Challenge 40 almost ready to pack up after its finale on January 1, 2025, MTV has announced a new spin-off season. Titled All Stars: Rivals 5, the season hit the small screen on January 29, 2025.
Fans were all geared up for a thrilling new chapter, but the excitement quickly turned into disappointment when MTV announced the cast lineup of the new season of The Challenge. Returning this season will be 26 former contestants from the franchise, including 10 men and 16 women who battle for the big win.

The Challenge fans have flooded social media expressing disappointment with the new season's lineup.

"First time in a long time I have NOT been excited for a season, I mean was NO ONE ELSE available? These are like the season 40 rejects. Awful awful cast, except for Ashley M. They could have kept this one."
