The upcoming Apple TV+ series Cape Fear is expanding its cast with an interesting new addition, CCH Pounder. The announcement came on April 7, 2025. This series is announced to be 10 episodes long and has multiple inspirations. The series is based on the novel 'The Executioners' by John D. MacDonald. The series also takes inspiration from the 1962 Universal Picture feature of the same name starring Gregory Peck.
Finally, the series is also inspired by the 1991 remake of the same, directed and produced by Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg, respectively (Robert De Niro and Nick Nolte played lead roles in the remake). Evidently, Apple TV's Cape Fear has big shoes to fill ahead of its premiere, but luckily, Scorsese and Spielberg are also a part of this project.
Here's everything we know about the new cast addition to Apple TV's Cape Fear.
Cast Expansion for Apple TV's Upcoming Cape Fear

As per recent news reports from Variety, CCH Pounder will be joining the cast of this project. She will be joining the cast alongside previously announced members Amy Adams, Javier Bardem, and Patrick Wilson. CCH Pounder, a four-time Emmy nominee for 'The Shield,' 'The No.1 Ladies Detective Agency,' 'The X-Files,' and 'ER,' is a great addition to this cast.
Additionally, Morten Tyldum ('Silo,' 'Defending Jacob,' 'Jack Ryan,' 'Counterpart') has also reportedly joined as an executive producer and as director for the pilot episode of this aspirational show. There is no set release date for the show as of yet.
The original tagline of the show reads:
"In ‘Cape Fear,’ a storm is coming for happily married attorneys Anna (Amy Adams) and Tom Bowden (Patrick Wilson) when Max Cady (Javier Bardem), a notorious killer from their past, gets out of prison."
Apple TV+ announced on November 18, 2024, that it would be adding an original series to its already impressive collection titled Cape Fear. Javier Bardem will also be starring in this 10-episode-long show.
Apple TV+ added in the press release that the series is set to be a tense and thrilling Hitchcockian watch.
"The 10-episode series is a tense, Hitchcockian thriller and an examination of America’s obsession with true crime in the 21st century."
