Neuromancer is a highly anticipated upcoming show on Apple TV+. Neuromancer serves as the first audiovisual adaptation of the immensely influential 1984 novel of the same name written by William Gibson. Actor Callum Turner was cast in the important role of Henry Case and he recently dropped a telling detail about Neuromancer during the Sundance Film Festival premiere of Atropia.

While attending the ongoing Sundance Film Festival, Callum Turner was asked by Screenrant about the current status of the production of Neuromancer. In his reply, Turner revealed that he had already completed about two weeks worth of shooting on the Apple TV+ show in Tokyo, Japan.

He then went on to state that he had to briefly visit London before attending the Sundance Film Festival. Turner closed his comments with praise for the "poetic" quality found in the original novel by William Gibson, as well as the adapted screenplay developed by showrunners Graham Roland and J.D. Dillard.

Here's everything that we know.

What is Neuromancer all about?

First published in 1984, Neuromancer is a novel written by author William Gibson. Over the years, the novel has served as the basis of the subsequent Cyberpunk genre, giving rise to many of the genre's established traits and motifs.

The novel follows the story of a disgraced hacker by the name of Henry Case, who has been living his life in exile as a low-life hustler in Chiba City, Japan. His hacking life is in the past after he was penalized for the same.

Case's life takes a different turn when his services are recruited by an ex-military officer known just as Armitage. His new role then takes him on an exhilarating journey ranging from Istanbul to the Earth's orbit. However, Case's past always looms large in the horizon as it often returns to haunt him.

The novel has been widely praised for its portrayal of class conflict and technology. It has also gone on to influence such works as The Matrix.

What's the latest buzz about Neuromancer?

The official description of the show reads:

"A damaged, top-rung super-hacker named Case (Turner) who is thrust into a web of digital espionage and high stakes crime with his partner Molly, a razor-girl assassin with mirrored eyes, aiming to pull a heist on a corporate dynasty with untold secrets.”

Taking a cue from Callum Turner's above-mentioned statement, it might be speculated that the exposition scenes contained early on in the novel might have been the subject of filming in Chiba City, Japan.

As can be guessed from such a highly-anticipated show, the production details have been kept remarkably under the wraps with no clue about when the ten-part series might hit Apple TV+.
