“An arctic blast”: Luke Mitchell teases a ‘surreal’ episode in Chicago Med Season 10

Chicago Med Season 10 Episode 15, titled 'Down In A Hole' will be Luke Mitchell's Mitch Ripley's shining moment. The episode, which was all shot mainly outdoors, will also see Mitch spiraling after problems in his personal and professional life.

In an interview with TV Insider, Mitchell talks about the filming experience for Chicago Med's upcoming episode:

"It was surreal. It didn’t feel like we’re shooting an episode of Chicago Med. It felt like we were shooting an independent movie.''

He added:

''It was just really crazy to be out on location shooting outside, and it just happened to be a cold snap in Chicago. It was like an arctic blast. We were really shooting in some cold temperatures, so that was really cool. We had all these fire trucks and ambulances and cop cars and news trucks, and it felt like a big deal."

Mitch Ripley will be in the spotlight in Chicago Med's latest episode

Mitch has a lot on his plate right now, with the suspension and confusion in his love life with Lynn and Hannah, things are not going his way. This downward spiral will get literal for the character in the upcoming episode, where he will go down a well to rescue someone, as Mitchell notes:

''He gets distracted and he kind of clips a car and he’s obviously concerned that he’s hurt someone and he gets out and no one’s in the car. Then he goes looking for whoever the occupants were, and that’s when he discovers — he’s the one that finds them down the well.''

The upcoming episode will also be a crossover event with Chicago Fire, where Mitchell will share the screen with Christian Stolte's Mouch again. The duo will work together in their rescue mission.

Discussing Mitch's mental state right now, Mitchell tells TV Insider:

''He’s not great. He’s not great at all. Yeah, it’s kind of a wild ride that he’s on at the moment. It just feels like after each episode that he’s just going further and further downward. And I fear that he has to hit rock bottom, metaphorically, and maybe physically.''

It looks like the upcoming episode will be a ride for Mitch. You can watch Episode 15 on NBC on March 5, 2025.
