The long-awaited season 3 of the Netflix hit Japanese series Alice In Borderland is all set to return in 2025. Netflix dropped the new teaser of the sci-fi thriller, giving fans a short glimpse into what is to come. The series is an adaptation of Haro Aso’s action thriller manga. Alice in Borderland first premiered on the OTT platform in December 2020, followed by a second season in December 2022. Both the seasons of the series were well-received in Japan as well as across the globe.

Alice in Borderland tells the story of a group of youngsters obligated to play a series of deadly games in a fictional version of Tokyo. The director of Alice in Borderland, Shinsuke Sato, teased on the social media platform X about the return of the series to Netflix in September 2025. Netflix has also confirmed that Kento Yamazaki and Tao Tsuchiya, who play the lead roles of Ryohei Arisu and Yuzuha Usagi are set to return in season 3 as well. The characters are expected to continue navigating through the precarious landscapes of Borderland with some highly intense drama surrounding them.


About the show

Alice in Borderland follows the stories of Ryohei Arisu, a video game-obsessed man and Yuzuha Usagi, a mountain climber, trapped in an abandoned city of Tokyo and forced to compete in a dangerous game using playing cards. Towards the end of season 2, we find Arisu and Usagi trying to cope with the truth of it all.

The show explores the themes of friendship, resilience, and the fight for survival within a stark situation. The series was admired by critics and fans alike for its stunning visuals, performances, and fast-paced storyline.


What to expect in season 3

In the chilling teaser poster of season 3 of Alice in Borderland, released by Netflix, we get a glimpse of the two lead characters looking at a joker card constructed on a building at a distance. The use of the Joker card confirms that the series is going to continue its fixation on playing cards in the illusory world of Borderland. The teaser also shows another character in a wheelchair, inviting speculations of new cast members.

Along with the poster, Netflix teased the fans with a cheeky caption –

‘You’re not ready for the final game.’
