After years of waiting, it looks like Hawkeye Season 2 is finally moving forward at Marvel Studios. Rumors suggest that filming will begin in the fall of 2025, with a possible release on Disney+ between late 2026 and 2027.
If this happens, it will be more than five years since the first season aired in December 2021.
Marvel’s Hawkeye Season 1, released in December 2021, was a six-episode series that mixed action, humor, and holiday vibes. It brought back Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton and introduced Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop.
The story took place during Christmas in New York City, making it feel like a festive superhero adventure.
In a conversation with Entertainment Weekly, Marvel producer Brad Winderbaum discussed how the studio decides whether a show should have multiple seasons or remain a one-time series.
"I think it's 'linear series potential,'"
he says
"A show like Agatha, to me, is concept based. Yes, a second season for sure is something that we would want to do, but let's not rush it. Let's get the right idea and then make it."
He mentioned Agatha All Along as an example, explaining that some shows are designed for just one season, while others have the potential for more.
Possible connection to upcoming MCU movies
When asked about Hawkeye, Winderbaum said that the series could return anytime because of its Christmas theme and the relationship between Clint and Kate.
He hinted that upcoming Marvel shows might follow a more structured, multi-season format instead of being a standalone story.
The rumored release of Hawkeye Season 2 falls between two major MCU movies, Avengers: Doomsday in May 2026 and Avengers: Secret Wars in May 2027. This has sparked speculation that the show might connect to the larger MCU storyline.
However, it’s still unclear whether it will tie into these movies or remain focused on Clint and Kate’s personal journeys.
Meanwhile, Kate Bishop’s role in the MCU is expected to grow. The new season could continue her journey from The Marvels and set her up for a major role in the Young Avengers.
As Marvel moves towards introducing the next generation of heroes, Kate could become a key player in the franchise’s future.
Although Marvel has not officially confirmed Hawkeye Season 2, these rumors suggest that Clint and Kate’s story is not over yet. However, fans might not have to wait much longer to see them back in action.
