Owen Cooper has most certainly been one of the most talked about young stars of the year with his breakthrough role in Netflix's Adolescence, which has taken the streaming giant by storm. The series shows Cooper playing the role of a teenage boy, Jamie Miller, who is convicted of the murder of his classmate.

As he continues to bask in the success of his debut project, Cooper is also set to star in Jacob Elordi and Margot Robbie's Wuthering Heights as a young Heathcliff, making it his first role in cinema. In conversations with Teen Vogue and This Morning, the actor got candid about his experience working with both stars. Although Cooper doesn't get to share the screen with any of the actors, he did open up about meeting them on set.

Speaking to Teen Vogue, he says,

"Wuthering Heights is amazing. I’ve only got a couple of days left [of shooting], so it’s been really good working with … Well, I wouldn’t say working with Jacob and Margot [Robbie], but I’ve seen them on set, spoken to them, and they’re just normal people. They’re so nice"

In another conversation with This Morning, Cooper opens up on working with Robbie, who stars as Catherine Earnshaw in the film. Talking to Ben Shephard on the show, he says,

"I see her all the time and I speak to her all the time, but I don’t really have any scenes with her. She’s really nice but filming wise, it’s fine, it’s just a lot different obviously but it’s going really well."

The four-episode series explores the deeper intricacies of a teen and the experiences and environment that shape his inner psychology, leading to haunting consequences that have raised several questions about adolescents and their vulnerabilities in today's society. The show has received immensely positive reviews as it continues to initiate discussions and debates on the impact of social alienation and the blurred lines between innocence and guilt. At the crux of all the triumph is Owen Cooper's deeply vulnerable portrayal of Jamie Miller, as the show explores the teen's mindset and the incidents that lead to him grappling with all that teenage angst.

Lauded by many as one of the most profound performances by a young actor in recent years, Cooper has established himself as a promising actor in the field as Adolescence continues to dominate Netflix charts, making it the most-watched limited series on the platform.

Talking about his role on the show and how he portrayed it, Cooper tells Teen Vogue,

“I felt like I had a big responsibility, because it is a difficult role and the subject matter is very intense....I didn’t look at it as challenging or as dark and intense. I just did what was in the script. And by [the time we shot] episode 1, I understood the seriousness and intense moments of the whole series.”

Adolescence is available to stream on Netflix.
