There is bad news for The Bachelorette fans as the show will not be back with its 22nd season this 2025 Summer. The previous season of the show was captained by Jenn Tran, who had chosen Devin Strader as her partner over Marcus Shober.
However, during the live finale, Strader broke off the engagement, and that too through a phone call.
This season of The Bachelorette was supposed to follow the current season of The Bachelor, which is being led by Grant Ellis. Let us now explore the details regarding ABC’s decision to skip the Summer 2025 season of The Bachelorette.
There will be no Summer 2025 season of The Bachelorette
Generally, an eliminated contestant from The Bachelor gets to lead the subsequent season of The Bachelorette. However, this time it is not happening and ABC has not made the reasons behind this decision clear yet. Besides canceling the show for its 2025 Summer release, ABC has not clarified when it will be returning.
The Bachelorette premiered its last three seasons in July. Though this cancellation came as a surprise, in the past also the show had done things differently. For instance, two cycles were aired in a year and there were two female leads in one of the seasons.
Grant Ellis, who is heading this season of The Bachelor had spoken to The Hollywood Reporter about his experience on the show and mentioned:
“They were honestly the best group; I couldn’t have asked for better. At times I got nervous because they were so great.”
However, he did not comment on his love life and only mentioned that he was happy. Since The Bachelorette depends heavily on The Bachelor for its female lead, the lack of one can be speculated as a reason behind the cancellation.
However, till any official confirmation comes from ABC, it is difficult to say anything for certain. For now, fans can only wait for an update regarding the popular dating show’s return.
