“A very new flavor for Marvel”: Daredevil: Born Again producer shares major update on Wonder Man series

The latest addition to the Marvel universe, Wonder Man, will be coming to Disney+ soon as per Brad Winderbaum, producer of Daredevil: Born Again. Winderbaum, who is the Head of Streaming, Television and Animation at Marvel Studios, has been instrumental in developing interesting content for the streaming platform. While speaking about Wonder Man, he told Collider:

‘It's a very new flavor for Marvel. It's straight from the minds of Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest. Honestly, it is one of my favorite things ever. I think it's the best show no one's ever seen, and I’m very excited to see the audience reaction to it.’

He continued:

‘I think it's a love letter to what we do as filmmakers. It's a love letter to acting as a profession, and it's a very sincere, beautiful show.’

What we know about Wonder Man?

Wonder Man will be coming out with eight episodes on Disney+ in December 2025. The series, which was originally announced in June 2022, is created by Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest.

Wonder Man is based on the Marvel Comics character with the same name. Unlike previous Marvel shows with more regulated run-times, Wonder Man will follow a more flexible structure with episodes between 20 and 40 minutes.

Winderbaum said:

‘There's a little bit of some streaming leeway in the episode runtimes, so I think our shortest episode is 20-something, and our longest is, like, 40-something,"

In 2024, Marvel Entertainment had shared a sneak peek of the upcoming shows in their line-up. Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige also spoke about the series on the Official Marvel Podcast last year. Per TV Line, he said:

‘We have a show coming up that we’ve talked very little about called Wonder Man, that I won’t talk much about today either except to say it’s extremely different than anything we’ve done before.’

The story of Wonder Man

Wonder Man follows the story of a Hollywood actor, Simon Williams, who comes upon superpowers resulting in his new superhero identity. The series is expected to revolve around his life in the glittery world of Hollywood intertwined with superhero adventures.

The titular role of Simon Williams as Wonder Man will be portrayed by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. Other cast members include Ben Kingsley as Trevor Slattery, Demetrius Grosse as Eric Williams, Ed Harris as Neal Saroyan, Lauren Glazier, Josh Gad and Byron Bowers.

Wonder Man will premiere on Disney+ in December 2025.
