Hallmark's The Way Home Season 3 finale, which premiered on March 7, 2025, finally revealed the biggest mystery from this season.

The season finale revealed that the mysterious infant abandoned by the pond is none other than Elliot, who was left by the pond with an unidentified mysterious male. While Elliot is romantically involved with Katherine and her time-traveling family, this development came as a twist as he has never before experienced the strange world firsthand.

In an interview with Variety, showrunner Alexandra Clarke breaks down The Way Home Season 3 finale and what it means for Elliot:

''It got a heck of a lot more personal, which is a fun new layer to all of this. It’s a really fun launching pad.''

She added:

''Elliot has always been someone who kept time travel at arm’s length. To make this realization, or create this theory that involves his own family, takes that to the next level.''

The Way Home is renewed for Season 4

While fans are still reeling from the suspenseful end of The Way Home Season 3, the show has already been renewed for another season. This means that Elliot's connection with time travel will likely be explored in the upcoming season.

The season introduced Elliot's time-traveling mother, who left her infant by the pond. After that, she jumped back into the pond with an unidentified male. This raises many questions about Elliot's childhood and why his mother abandoned him.

Elliot's conversation with Colton in the finale is also an important plot point. Clarke discusses its implications and how it will affect Elliot and other characters' stories in the upcoming season:

''There are so many questions that I hope people ask about those final moments of the episode with younger Del, and Colton taking Elliot in. What are the implications of that? That’s part of Elliot’s story that certainly our audience hasn’t been aware of. There’s definitely more secrets to unveil.''

Clarke's interview with Variety hints that the show will continue to play with the complicated nature of past and present as it has before.

All the characters are bound with each other by the past, especially Elliot and Kat; their relationship was built in the present from their past, which will get even more complicated with Elliot's history being explored more in the upcoming season.
