The movie follows the story of an Asian American professor, Rachel Chu, portrayed by Constance Wu, who travels with her boyfriend Nick Young, played by Henry Golding, to Singapore for a wedding. Rachel is shocked to discover that Nick comes from one of the richest families in Asia.

Rachel has a tension-filled equation with his overbearing mother, Eleanor, played by Michelle Yeoh. Eleanor does not approve of their relationship, because of Rachel’s humble American background. Rachel faces reservations from the Young family members as well. With all the uncertainties thrown her way, Rachel’s future with Nick seems bleak.

Whether the original cast of the movie will return for the show is yet to be seen. The 2018 Crazy Rich Asians is available on Hulu, Netflix, and Prime Video.
