Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2 and even a third one were already confirmed when the first season was underway. While their live-action movies and shows might have had a mixed reception, barring What If...? all of Disney+ Marvel animated shows have been acclaimed by both critics and the general public.
As we wait for the second season, Marvel Television's head Brad Winderbaum recently was interviewed by Steve Weintraub, the Editor-in-chief of Collider. This interview was conducted during the promotional event for Daredevil: Born Again and the conversation shifted towards the possible release window for Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2. He said:
"We will have a Spider-Man season every year if I have anything to say about it. What usually happens, as you know, in animation, is that there's a bigger gap between Season 1 and Season 2 than in subsequent seasons, and that'll be similar in Friendly [Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2]. We will have to wait a little bit more than a year for Season 2, but then after that, it should come out on an annual cadence, hopefully.
Brad Winderbaum's comments on Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2 release window explained:
Brad Winderbaum's quote above is very similar to the recent comments made by the Spider-Man animated series showrunner Jeff Trammell about the second season. Steve Weintraub served as the moderator for the Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man panel at SCAD TVFest.
In this panel, Trammell was asked about the progress in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2, and the next one. Jeff Trammell's answer to this question was:
"In terms of Seasons 2 and 3, in 2, we are halfway through the animatic portion for the season. We are about to turn in the final episode of the season, and we've already begun getting animation back for Season 2. In terms of Season 3, I’ll be pitching some ideas to my boss in the upcoming weeks for Season 3."
When probed further about the animation process, Tramell had this answer, and even a possible release window for Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2:
"I'll say this: it took us four years to make Season 1. You're building a world from the ground up, in 3D at that. We have all those pieces in play. We're adding to it even more. We're going to keep pushing things, but it won't take four years for Season 2. I can't say how long it will take, but I will say that I don't think you'll be waiting very long."
While the information for the second season is very scarce, Tramell did reveal that an important Spider-Man character is appearing in it, Gwen Stacy as Spider-Gwen. She's a fan-favorite character who has won audiences over with her appearances in the Spider-Verse movies.
Would you rather wait for a few years for Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2, or are you excited about the 2026 release window?
