Fox's 911: Lone Star is ending. The drama series will wrap up with its fifth and final season, which starts on September 23. The final 12 episodes will lead up to the series finale in early 2025.

Fox TV Network President Michael Thorn said;

"Now, in our final season of the show, we're set to give it the high-stakes send-off it deserves, complete with breathless rescues, insurmountable odds, and relatable personal struggles."

911: Lone Star has been doing well for Fox since it started in January 2020. It's not as popular as the original 911 show, but it still does well among Fox dramas in terms of viewers and adults aged 18-49. It has been one of the top 10 drama series on all major networks for its age group.

911: Lone Star is a spinoff of the original 9-1-1, which started on Fox in 2018. Rob Lowe as a New York firefighter moves to Austin, Texas, where he saves lives and deals with personal issues. The show has a strong cast, including Gina Torres, Ronen Rubinstein, and others.

According to Pop Culture, the main reason the show is ending is more economic than popularity. The current show, despite being one of the top-rated shows on Fox is not likely to move to ABC like 9-1-1.

According to sources, FOX has to pay a fee to air the series, raising the show's cost. 20th TV, which is owned by Disney, was helping to cover the costs, but it was still losing money.

Things didn't look good for the series. 9-1-1 moved to ABC for its 7th season, but the spinoff was stuck on Fox. This was a problem because Fox was dealing with budget cuts and cancellations, which made it tough for the show to survive.

Fox TV Network President Michael Thorn thanked the creative minds behind the series.

“From the start, fans have followed the heroic and deeply moving stories of the men and women who make up Austin’s 126, so a huge thanks to one of the greatest creative teams in all television — Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear — for creating one of the most action-packed dramas anywhere.”

The show's season 5 premieres on Monday, September 23 at 8/7c, on FOX.
