2025 Grammys still scheduled for February 2 amid L.A. fires' aftermath

The 2025 Grammys, scheduled for February 2, 2025, were rumored to be postponed amid the LA Wildfires. A recently released statement by the Recording Academy confirmed that the Awards will be held on their scheduled date, but it will have a new purpose- to raise funds for the people in need due to the LA Wildfire.

The LA Wildfire continues to create havoc, and according to recent news, the death count has reached up to 24 in the region. With strong winds, the threat of the fire getting bigger is looming large.

It was speculated that the 2025 Grammys would be postponed, considering the state of their home city. However, according to the recently released statement, the awards are still scheduled for Feb. 2 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

2025 Grammys still scheduled amid the LA Wildfires

According to the statement released by the Recording Academy, the awards will happen on their scheduled date:

''In close coordination with local authorities to ensure public safety and responsible use of area resources, the 67th Grammy Awards telecast on CBS on February 2nd will proceed as planned.''

But the 2025 Grammys will carry a different purpose this year:

''This year’s show, however, will carry a renewed sense of purpose: raising additional funds to support wildfire relief efforts and honoring the bravery and dedication of first responders who risk their lives to protect ours.''

The LA Wildfires impacted many music professionals like Lady Gaga and Bebe Rexha, and it was reported that they had evacuated their LA homes for a safer place. Many celebrities have also lost their homes to the LA Wildfires.

Since music has the power to heal, the Recording Academy feels that the city could use some healing amid this difficult time, and the funds which the event will raise:

''...the Recording Academy and MusiCares launched the Los Angeles Fire Relief Effort last week with an initial $1 million donation to support music creatives and professionals. Thanks to additional contributions, we have already distributed over $2 million in emergency aid to those most in need – and we remain steadfast in our commitment to providing ongoing assistance.''

According to this statement released, it can be said that the 2025 Grammys will take place at their scheduled date on February 2, 2025, if any further complications do not arise.

MusiCares executive director Laura Segura also claimed to raise funds for those in need:

"MusiCares can help with short term emergent needs for those currently displaced, and then longer-term services as we get a handle on the full extent of how music people are impacted."

Talking about nominations for the 2025 Grammys, pop star Beyoncé is the artist with the highest (11) nominations, followed by Kendrick Lamar and Post Malone (7) and Taylor Swift with six nominations.
