About Cole Brings Plenty’s character in 1923

Brings Plenty portrayed Pete Plenty Clouds, a key figure in Teonna Rainwater’s story. Teonna, a young Native American girl, had endured unimaginable suffering in a Catholic boarding school before escaping.

Pete, alongside her father, Runs His Horse (Michael Spears), played a crucial role in helping her.

After fleeing the abusive boarding school, Teonna was relentlessly hunted by law enforcement. Pete and Runs His Horse provided her with protection and an escape route, ensuring she had a chance at freedom.

In the Season 1 finale, Pete was last seen riding off with Teonna and her father, setting up a promising expansion of his character in Season 2. Unfortunately, Brings Plenty’s untimely passing changed the course of the show.

What happened to Cole?

In April 2024, Cole Brings Plenty was reported missing by his family. He was later found dead in Johnson County, Kansas, at just 27 years old.

Before his disappearance, he had been declared wanted by the Lawrence Police Department for alleged domestic violence charges. His uncle, Mo Brings Plenty, and actor Cole Hauser took to social media, asking for help in locating him. Unfortunately, the search ended in tragedy.

Brings Plenty was set to have a bigger role in Season 2. His character, Pete, was a key ally to Teonna, and their journey together would have been a major focus of the upcoming season. His passing left a void not only in the storyline but also in the hearts of those who knew him.

As a Native American actor, Brings Plenty’s role in 1923 was significant. His portrayal of Pete Plenty Clouds contributed to an authentic representation of Indigenous struggles and resilience, something Hollywood still struggles with.
