Captain America: Brave New World might just be the saving grace that Marvel needs to sustain it's preemince following the slump it went through in the previous years.

The upcoming Captain America: Brave New World will see a change in the character of the Captain, with Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson taking up the baton from Chris Evans' Steve Rogers.

A new and shortened trailer for Captain America: Brave New World is currently making the rounds at theatres across the country. In the trailer, and for a brief moment, Thaddeus Ross is seen flaring up as the Red Hulk.

Captain America: Brave New World will mark the Marvel Cinematic Universe debut of veteran actor Harrison Ford, who has been roped in to play the character of Thaddeus Ross and the Red Hulk.

Ross is a former army general who appeared on the 2008 film Incredible Hulk and was seen on the trail of Edward Norton's Bruce Banner. This time, however, he is a sitting President of the United States.

The trailer initially starts out by painting Sam Wilson and Ross as potential allies. However, by the end of the trailer, a heated exchange between the two shakes things up. In the absence of further details from Marvel, it can't be said with certainty what led to this. Here's all that we know.

What's the latest buzz about Captain America: Brave New World?

The plot of Captain America: Brave New World follows Sam Wilson and his right-hand man Joaquin take up their new roles as Captain America and Falcon respectively.

They are then thrown into the thick of a conspiracy concerning brainwashed super soldiers, among whom is their former friend Isaiah Bradley. Their involvement leads them to a cruel conspiracy that could have dire consequences for the whole world if it were to come to pass.

In between all of this, the sitting President Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross will expectedly transform into the Red Hulk. This is especially ironic as the character was once responsible for apprehending Hulk himself.

Sam Wilson must then navigate through the struggle of being pitted against someone as devilishly powerful as the Red Hulk. The character of Sidewinder, played by actor Giancarlo Esposito is expected to have a pivotal role in the afore mentioned conspiracy.

One memorable moment from the trailer highlights the uphill task Sam Wilson has in front of him. During a heated battle with Ross as the Red Hulk, Wilson tosses a car at him and watches on as the former dissects the car into two with his wings.

Producers open up about Captain America: Brave New World and the Red Hulk

Nate Moore is a producer on Captain America: Brave New World and Dan Cox is a visual effects supervisor at Weta. Together, the two of them spoke in depth about the genesis and production of the film and the character of Red Hulk in an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly.

Speaking about Red Hulk, Cox commented:

"It wasn't just a color change (from Hulk). It's a whole different character. There's the anger and everything that goes into that, but Julius wanted him to feel more tactical than the green Hulk. It's Thaddeus Ross, right? He's military, he is trained. Julius gave us the reference of a bear in terms of how he poses himself on all fours. Even during the action sequences, it's extremely aggressive in a different way in terms of slightly more methodical actions."

Moore further added:

"It's the notion of a guy who believes an ideal, realizing that ideal is not always held up to the same standards by other people, and feeling really betrayed by where the American government had gone. The Red Hulk is the cherry on the sundae because then you get to have a physical manifestation of that."

Captain America: Brave New World is expected to be released on February 14, 2025, in theatres.
