When the 2019 pandemic hit the healthcare and economy, the Shark Tank investor Mark Cuban believed that the way to recover from the situation was through the federal government stepping in just like they did during the Great Depression days.

The Dallas Mavericks owner and businessman Mark Cuban talked to Fox Business about the unforeseen situation that the 2019 pandemic brought upon the world and how the economy went crashing due to the collapse of small businesses and other sectors.

Mark compared the situation to the great depression, referring to the bulging unemployment rate in the US that touched down the mark as that of the great depression. Mark opined that the federal government will have to bring in the program that can ensure jobs to the millions of Americans who lost all hope as the pandemic destroyed the economic fabric of the nation.

He remarked during the interview with Fox Business :

"If we would’ve had this discussion four months ago, I would’ve said it’s a crazy idea, there’s no way to do it, and that as much as possible, you let the free market do what it can. We’ve never been in a situation like this."

Shark Tank investor Mark Cuban was actively rendering his help by providing suggestions and advice best to his capabilities to tackle the catastrophic economic downfall that people witnessed during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The American businessman held the government on a high pedestal, calling it the biggest employer of all time, and wished for the government to support those who lost their jobs by creating demand in the market. Mark suggested taking in the workforce and utilizing them in areas like testing, tracking the COVID-19 information, and as caregivers.

He remarked:

"I think with government intervention on a transitional basis, not permanent — and I know that creates its own set of issues — I think the government can be supportive, to help create demand for the markets and even put together a federal jobs program to have jobs that do things that are productive."

The Shark Tank judge also believed that the market would not be able to jump back on its own, and it was time for government intervention. Supporting his argument, he said:

"I don’t see the free market generating the net increase of 18 million jobs over the next two years."

Shark Tank is available on ABC.
