Netflix’s The Witcher is about to take an unexpected turn by introducing a character directly from The Witcher video games for the first time. According to Redanian Intelligence, actor Jack Myers will be playing Roderick de Wett in The Witcher Season 4.

For those who are new or are not known, Roderick de Wett is a Nilfgaardian Count and a knight of the Order of the Flaming Rose. He originally appeared in The Witcher (2007), the first game in the series by CD Projekt Red.

In the game, Geralt meets him at The New Narakort inn in Chapter 3, and later, he is seen playing dice poker or roaming the Old Manor.

While Roderick does not have a major role, he does cross paths with Geralt in a few quests. Depending on the player's choices, Roderick either hands over a large amount of gold after a poker match or ends up facing Geralt’s steel sword.

When will Roderick appear in The Witcher?

Netflix has largely avoided using characters exclusive to the games, as the show is based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s books. However, Roderick’s inclusion marks a shift in this approach. Although he was not in the books, he is loosely connected to them through Joachim de Wett, a Nilfgaardian noble mentioned in Sapkowski’s lore.

Reports suggest that Roderick will make his debut in The Witcher Season 4, appearing in episodes 3 or 4, which are directed by Tricia Brock. This addition hints at Netflix's willingness to incorporate more game characters, despite their previous stance of distancing themselves from CD Projekt Red’s adaptations.

This update comes at a time when The Witcher is undergoing a significant change. Liam Hemsworth is stepping into the role of Geralt of Rivia, replacing Henry Cavill. With a new White Wolf and the first-ever game-exclusive character joining the show, Season 4 is shaping up to be an intriguing chapter in Netflix’s adaptation.
