Global availability and archival content

This move is part of a 10-year, $5 billion deal between WWE and Netflix, indicating a substantial investment in bringing wrestling entertainment to a wider audience. In addition to live broadcasts, Netflix will start to add select WWE archival content in January 2025.

This will include episodes of WWE Raw, SmackDown, NXT, and premium live events such as WrestleMania, Royal Rumble, and SummerSlam. The archival content will be available for streaming and download, so fans can relive classic matches and moments at their convenience.

No additional charges and downloadable episodes

All live WWE events on Netflix will be covered under existing Netflix plans, without any extra charge for the event. This would make it possible for all viewers to have access to and enjoy WWE content without an additional cost.

Furthermore, episodes will be available for download within about 48 hours of the live broadcast. This feature enables viewers to watch episodes offline, allowing them flexibility if they miss the live airing or wish to watch on the go.

Transition from Cable to Streaming

Before the shift to Netflix, WWE Raw had adopted new formats. From October 7 to December 30, 2024 episodes became two hours long for WWE Raw instead of their standard three hours. Because USA Network requested this change, following its previous broadcast, audiences applauded the new format by adopting a long-standing need to have a shorter programming session.

This marks a new era for WWE in its shift from cable television to a streaming platform, a change consistent with the larger industry's shift toward digital consumption of entertainment content.

It goes without saying that WWE Raw's arrival on Netflix marks a pivotal juncture in the history of sports entertainment in light of access and its related content. An intriguing start with an array of outstanding matches, along with one-shot cameo appearances, promises WWE not only an immense supply of archival content but also opens up doors to fans of wrestling worldwide.
