Neagley: Everything we know so far about the upcoming Reacher spin-off

The highly anticipated Reacher Season 3 will hit Prime Video in less than a week, and fans might also be excited for its upcoming spin-off, Neagley. As the title suggests, the new series is ordered to focus on Frances Neagley, played by Maria Sten.

The new spin-off is the result of the success and commendation Reacher received from fans and viewers. Featuring Alan Ritchson in the titular role, the action series stays true to Lee Child's novels while also taking some creative liberties.

The announcement of Neagly came straight from the head of Amazon MGM Studios, Jennifer Salke in 2024, during the Prime Video Presents: Trailblazers event in London. The spin-off is moving forward with Amazon MGM Studios, Skydance Television, and CBS Studios.

Maria Sten's character was introduced in the very first season, followed by her major role in Season 2. Neagly was a member of the Army’s 110th Special Investigations Unit and later became a private investigator in Chicago.

Similar to Ritchson's character, Neagley faces tough situations during her quests. Trained by Jack Reacher, she's also known for her fighting and investigative skills which fans can explore deeply in the spin-off.

Get ready for another action-packed storytelling in the Reacher universe as executive producers and co-showrunners, Nick Santora, and Nicholas Wootton, are all set to work on Neagly. Since the spin-off focuses on a character from the flagship series, the project also has Lee Child as one of the executive producers.

Following the announcement of the spin-off, the head of television, at Amazon MGM Studios, Vernon Sanders shared:

"As Reacher continues to resonate with our global customers in a profound way, expanding on the storytelling and characters with a spinoff was an easy decision."

While praising Santora and Wootton, Sanders also praised production partners Skydance and CBS Studios for the collaboration. The makers feel confident about Maria Sten leading the spin-off and engaging fans with a fresh narrative.

Neagley Plot details: What will happen in the spin-off?

While the exact plot details of Neagley remain under wraps, we do know that it will follow Frances investigating a friend’s mysterious death. As she embarks on a dangerous mission, Frances Neagley must prepare to fight enemies on her way.

Since she is no longer working with the 110th Special Investigations Unit, the spin-off will dive into her backstory and life as a private investigator. So, fans can expect the spin-off to be filled with action, suspense, and intrigue.

As per the logline:

"When she learns that a beloved friend from her past has been killed in a suspicious accident, she becomes hell-bent on justice. Using everything she’s learned from Jack Reacher and her time as a member of the 110 Special Investigators, Neagley puts herself on a dangerous path to uncover a menacing evil."

Additionally, Frances Neagley's story hasn't been explored in deep in Lee Child's book, which means it's an opportunity for MGM Studios to craft an original story for the character. While she is among the key figures in Child's Bad Luck and Trouble, the spin-off can add more to her story.

Neagley cast details: Will Alan Ritcson reprise his role?

Being the focus of the spin-off, Maria Sten as Neagley is the most obvious character from the original show. The actress expressed her excitement about the character and said:

"I’m beyond thrilled to further explore the world of Neagley and her somewhat mysterious background."

Sten added:

"She’s such a wonderful character to play and I’m very excited for everyone to get to know her a little better."

As for Alan Ritchson, the actor might make a guest appearance but currently hasn't shared his thoughts on the spin-off. The show will also introduce new characters, possibly connected to Neagley's past and her quest for justice.
