Caleb Foote's character Randy will be a series regular in NCIS: Origins

Deadline has reported that Caleb Foote has been promoted as a series regular in NCIS: Origins.

Foote’s character, Special Agent Bernard Randolph, appears as a mentor to young Gibbs, played by Austin Stowell. As a series regular, Foote’s character can have a bigger impact on Gibbs as we can see the evolution of their mentor-mentee relationship.

Foote’s Randy is introduced to Stowell’s Gibbs to make him understand the job when he joins the team under leader and Special Agent Mike Franks, played by Kyle Schmid. As a regular character, Foote’s Randy can also have his own character arc, which doesn’t always revolve around Gibbs.

As revealed in episode 8, Foote’s character Randy was the agent originally assigned to keep Gibb’s family safe before it was given to someone else.

While talking to TVLine, showrunner David J. North talked about how Gibbs might react after knowing Randy’s secret and guilt. He further added:

"At one point, we will build a point where he and Gibbs can have a conversation. But I don't think it's something that Gibbs would hold a grudge over."
