The fourth season of Mythic Quest once again brings back the familiar characters of the workplace comedy. Mythic Quest first premiered on Apple TV+ four years back in 2020 and has since then steadily developed its own fan base. It goes without saying that for such a show that relies heavily on its characters to sustain the comic quotient, Mythic Quest does the job admirably.
The first and second episodes of Mythic Quest are titled 'Boundaries,' and '1000%' respectively. They dropped together on January 29 on Apple TV+ and highlighted the themes of human relationships along with the emergence of Artificial Intelligence in the studio.
What happened in Mythic Quest Season 4 Episode 1?
The fourth season's premiere episode begins with a dream. David is revealing to the staff their recent successes while also stressing the low points. He, strangely, feels that the pandemic coming to an end was bad for them and the gaming business since it reduced income.
But, suddenly Ian and Poppy make their triumphant return to the workplace, descending from the ceiling together, looking heavenly. This was Ian's dream. So, Ian has an idea based on his dream. He pays a late-night visit to Poppy's flat, and she needs to remind him of the limitations of their makeshift partnership.
Ian wants to create Mythic Quest's version of "Heaven." Gamers may access it by dying. Poppy enjoys the idea but is ready to drive him away so he does not discover her lover hidden in the flat. Moving on, David is unimpressed by this concept and informs them that the popularity of their game Playpen is skyrocketing, and its inventor, Dana, has no idea how successful her game has become.
Dana, on the other hand, knows her game is top-notch, and she wants Brad to release her from her present job contract so she may reap the rewards. She wants to text her girlfriend (and coworker) Rachel, but she isn't permitted to because the office is somehow divided into teams.
By the end of the first episode, Ian has found that Poppy has a boyfriend, and David thinks he is envious. To put him to the test, David dupes Ian and brings him to an art exhibition where Poppy is already present with her lover. Ian confronts Poppy and says he doesn't care if she has a boyfriend. Their relationship is held together by the fact that he claims to love her for her brains rather than her appearance.
Mythic Quest Season 4 Episode 2 Recap
At the start of the second episode, David travels to the office basement, where the strange sounds startle him. He is seeking Sue but comes across a new coworker, Jackie, who is Sue's sister. Jackie and Sue are eventually shown to be linked not by blood but by church.
David got quite the surprise after he went down to the basement as Sue revealed that the game Playpen consists of sex. Users have broken the game's regulations, which is problematic given that many of the users are children themselves. A concerned David brings up the problem with Ian, Poppy, and Rachel, but they are all distracted as usual.
The key idea is to employ AI to manage the game, keeping it current with global happenings. Poppy opposes AI unless it is trained. The theme of AI remains central to the second episode of Mythic Quest season four, as Poppy constructs an AI replica of her thoughts for Ian to have at all times. Ian informs Poppy that AI cannot replace her, but when he starts asking it questions, he is impressed with the answers.
Mythic Quest season four is exclusively available on Apple TV+.
