Mythic Quest Season 4 premiered on January 29, 2025, on Apple TV+ after a two-year break. The workplace comedy is slated for ten episodes this season. Created by the trio Megan Ganz, Charlie Day, and Rob McElhenney, the series is based on the life of the team behind a fictional video game studio that develops Mythic Quest, a popular MMORPG.
Mythic Quest Season 4 Episode 8, 'Rebrand,' dropped on March 12, 2025. The 22-minute standalone episode focuses on Pootie (a game streamer and Ian's son), his terrible decisions, and their outcome. The episode diverges from the main plotline of the season, which involves Ian Grim (Rob McElhenney), Poppy Li (Charlotte Nicado), Rachel (Ashly Burch), and Dana (Imani Hakim).
As shown in Mythic Quest Season 4 Episode 7, Ian and Poppy's partnership grows weaker as they face issues due to differing priorities. Poppy seems determined to move to the Netherlands to start a new life with Storm and her unborn baby. Meanwhile, Dana’s game, Twilight Games, is taken over by Mythic Quest, sparking her anger. Even though Ian tries to stop Poppy from leaving her work, she unexpectedly announces her maternity leave.
However, Episode 8 does not address the aftermath of the previous episode. Instead, it focuses on Ian Grimm’s son, Pootie Shoe, whose life takes a drastic turn due to a desperate decision.
Here's a recap of what happened in Mythic Quest Season 4 Episode 8
Who is Pootie Shoe in Mythic Quest Season 4 Episode 8?
Brendan, popularly known as Pootie Shoe, is a recurring character in the Apple TV+ seriesportrayed by Elisha Henig. Pootie is a typical teen video game streamer who is hooked on social media. He is also the son of Ian Grimm but does not share a good bond with him. Their relationship was strained at the end of Season 1 when Brendan was defeated by his father in his favorite Mythic Quest game during a live stream.
The episode portrays Pootie as an entitled and spoiled brat who does not listen to anyone but himself. As a young influencer and gamer, he locks himself in his room, streaming violent games all day. Mythic Quest Season 4 Episode 8 introduces Pootie as a popular video gamer who lives dual lives—an energetic teen on-screen and a tired individual off-screen.
Ian Grimm, heartbroken over Poppy and their unborn child leaving, decides to wish Pootie a happy 17th birthday. However, Pootie rudely responds to his father’s message.

Pootie Shoe becomes ambitious for his 17th birthday and decides to expand his content genre. He wants to drop "Shoe" from his stage name and detach himself from his younger audience. Even after his mother’s warning, he discusses his plans with his agency.
He meets his head agent, Spencer, and asks to drop the branded shoes. However, Spencer warns Pootie about the legal hurdles he would face, including a $10 million fine if he proceeds. Desperate, Pootie decides to gather $10 million and uses AI to find resources. He ultimately challenges his fellow streamer, Trevor, to an influencer boxing match (similar to the iconic Logan Paul vs. KSI match).

Even though Ian and Pootie do not share a cordial bond, Ian worries about Pootie’s well-being. Meanwhile, Spencer and Pootie’s mother grow increasingly concerned about the upcoming match, as Trevor is muscular and much bigger than Pootie.
Ian refuses to help Pootie financially but decides to appoint UFC champ Donald Cerrone as Pootie’s trainer. On the day of the match, Pootie feels nervous, but Cerrone believes he can win. However, Trevor knocks Pootie down within a few seconds, securing victory.

Even though Pootie loses the match, he gains $10 million through live streaming. He decides to take control of his life and learns that nothing can be achieved by rushing. He visits Spencer and asks him to remove his name from the shoe brand. However, Spencer advises him to slow down and rethink his decisions.
Meanwhile, Pootie also cancels his emancipation, making his mother, Shannon, happy. The episode ends with Pootie addressing his audience in a live stream, announcing that he will slow down and stop rushing through life.
This episode is quite different from regular Mythic Quest episodes, as it highlights the downsides of being a young influencer. It also provides a befitting character arc for Brendan, aka Pootie—transforming from a spoiled young influencer to a more mature and responsible individual.
