Apple TV+'s Mythic Quest Season 4 brings back the titular team at the studios, ready to tackle fresh obstacles in the ever-changing gaming industry. While new competitors continue to rise, personal conflicts and romantic connections also start affecting the dynamics.
At the heart of Mythic Quest Season 4 is the creative clash between Ian Grimm and Poppy Liwanag. Despite their differing approaches, the two joined forces to work on a new project titled Elysium, but their struggle to stay on the same page doesn't seem to stop.
As seen in the early episodes, Ian has always been deeply invested in their creative collaboration, but he later finds himself frustrated as Poppy's priorities begin to shift. One of the major reasons behind Ian's frustration is Poppy's new relationship with Storm.
Soon after meeting Storm, Poppy moves away from the non-stop work culture that once defined her. However, Ian is facing difficulties in adjusting to this shift, and this was also seen in the latest episode 7 of Mythic Quest Season 4.

Mythic Quest Season 4 Episode 7 recap: Dana’s game and Ian-Poppy’s fractured bond

One of the major storylines in Mythic Quest Season 4 Episode 7, "The Room Where It Happens," is about Dana's game. The episode featured how her game, Twilight Forest, is taken over by Mythic Quest Studio after Brad’s poker loss.
This results in Dana being incredibly furious, so much so that she doesn't even hesitate in firing back at David with a biting comment. Now that Ian and Poppy are done with Elysium, they notice Dana's frustration and try to cheer her up by encouraging her to create something even better.
Though Ian initially doesn't like the idea of helping Dana, he eventually agrees, and the three meet at a restaurant. Being the mentor, Ian first suggests Dana rename her game from Twilight Forest to Evening Woods and instantly gets mocked.
Poppy mocks him, saying this name sounds like a "shower gel" for intimate parts, and Dana agrees. However, the lighthearted moment takes a deeper turn when Poppy mentions moving to the Netherlands with Storm and their baby. When Ian says that all Poppy does is work, Poppy feels bad and says:
"I'm changing. I mean, for all I know, I might end up living in the Netherlands."
Ian’s discomfort is evident as he tells her that he doesn't want to live in the Netherlands. Poppy corrects him that she would relocate with Storm and not him, which further complicates their bond. While the two continue to argue, Dana leaves.
However, before ending their conversation, Poppy makes it clear that she doesn't want to be trapped in a professional partnership that controls her life. As for Ian, he's concerned about Poppy's unborn child and wants her to stay with him at the studio.

What else happened in Mythic Quest Season 4 Episode 7?

After witnessing Dana's situation, Brad and Jo try to get jobs with Carol, but she refuses since there’s no budget. Later, a drunk Andy handcuffs himself to Carol’s desk, reminding her about their past hookups.
Looking at the situation, Brad tries to use it to demand a job, but Carol stands firm. As for Ian, he attempts to save his partnership with Poppy by buying her robot art. What was meant to lift Poppy's mood further makes her angry as she explains the meaning behind the piece.
Poppy believes that she is "a machine that can't be fixed" no matter how much she works. She further tells Ian that instead of fixing her problem, he fixed his own problem and would never understand Poppy's situation.
As the episode comes to an end, Poppy tells Ian that the only thing she needs is distance between them. She leaves after announcing her maternity leave, and Ian is left behind, looking at the machine.
