The Voice Season 26 contestant Shye Roberts finished second on the reality musical show, behind Sofronio Vasquez. It was a double-luck situation for Coach Michael Bublé, who had mentored both the top contestants, the first rookie coach in the history of The Voice to do so.
Shye is 17 and has a unique voice and musical talent. Throughout the show, we saw her stick to Coach Michael Bublé despite the coaches having the options of Steal or Save. Shye talked about how she skipped high school graduation to be at the blind auditions.
In an Instagram post, Shye talked about how she feels being the runner-up on The Voice season 26. She captioned a picture saying,
Thank you so much for the love!!! 2nd is my favorite place to be and i am so hype for what’s next and it’s all thanks to you guys. I’m going to miss this experience and the wonderful people who make it work.
Shye's Journey Through The Voice
Shye seemed like a nervous teenager during her early days on The Voice but gradually went on make a name for herself in the competition. She has talked about how the show has boosted her confidence and has made her mature. "I'm allowed to be myself more and not being afraid to express myself musically," Shye told LehighValleyNews.com.
Viewers had constantly voted for Shye to move ahead in the competition and the judges praised her skill. During her blind auditions, Snoop Dogg and appreciatively said, "You were made for singing. You were made for everything that’s about to happen to you."
When teammate Sofronio Vasquez was announced winner of the show, Shye hugged him with joy.
Even though the result was not what she had hoped for, it was obvious that Shye was happy for the Filipino singer. They had become friends during their time in the competition.
While talking about The Voice, Shye stated,
"I overall feel like the show was the most beneficial thing to me right now in terms of emotionally, musically, and it put me in a great position."
Shye's bond with her family after The Voice
Shye and her sister Shalyn have a very close relationship and now that her time on the show is over, we see the two spending more time together.
Shalyn has always supported her litter sister and even traveled with Shye all this while. In one episode, we saw the sisters having a good time with Coach Michael Bublé.
Shalyn and Shye grew their bond even better during the show. The love letter to music that we saw during The Voice finale was written by Shye with the help of her elder sister. Talking about it, Shye expressed,
"My sister and I have bonded a lot. I don't even think we talked every day before this. Now me and my sister have Stockholm syndrome because we have to talk to each other all the time and become very close."
Shye Roberts' plans after The Voice include spending time with family and creating new music. She does not have the final draft ready but has definitely thought about a theme for her songs. It could be related to overcoming anxiety and self-doubt.
Shye says her journey on The Voice let her prove herself to people. She now wants to create projects that will let people know they are not alone.
