Fox's latest TV series Murder in a Small Town had viewers thinking about the mysteries in Gibsons, as the first episode opened with a startling elimination of an 85-year-old man.
Following the story penned down by author L.R. Wright in his book, Murder in a Small Town's leading character is Detective Karl Alberg, played by ER star Rossif Sutherland.
While Sutherland plays Karl, Smallville actress Kristin Kruek is playing the detective's love interest, Cassandra. While Detective Alberg spent his time solving cases using his intelligence, Cassandra is a Gibsons local who met Karl through online dating.
Fox has aired the first two episodes of the mystery TV series, in which fans and viewers saw Karl and Cassandra meeting for the first time, followed by the detective carrying out his job in a town he has just landed.

The release schedule of Murder in a Small Town has seen some changes. Initially, the episodes were set to come out at 9:00 PM ET/PT, but following a presidential debate, the slot was moved up.

Being a mystery TV series, Murder in a Small Town opened with the shocking murder of Carlyle Burke in episode 1 titled The Suspect, injecting fear and doubts among the residents of Gibsons. The elderly man was beaten to death at his home, and Det. Karl Albeg has to find the killer.
Following the investigation, Alberg suspected Burke's seemingly innocent neighbor George Wilcox. Since the neighbors didn't seem to be on good terms, the detective was hoping some information from Wilcox. Meanwhile, Cassandra and Alberg's relationship is getting complicated as the librarian believes Wilcox's innocence, while the detective questions his reputation.
This situation puts Cassandra in a tough spot, as she's pursuing a relationship with the detective suspecting people she trusts. The story continued in episode 2 titled Fall From Grace, with a high school reunion, where some characters re-visit their past.
While the reunion brought a joyous moment and reflected unsolved conflicts, the residents are still bothered by Burke's murder. Their tensions intensified as another character and Cassandra's former classmate Bobby was found dead. The episode shed light on the rivalries between the residents in Gibsons, which they had buried for years.
The investigation has become complicated as Det. Karl Alberg now has to solve two murders in the town. He's trying to settle in the small town after abandoning a chaotic life in the city, but the continuous murders will keep him occupied.
Meanwhile, Cassandra is concerned about the residents of the town, as she barely doubts anyone despite the haunting crimes taking place.
Her relationship with Alberg has just begun in Murder in a Small Town, and fans can expect more complications to arise in the upcoming episodes.
