Netflix dropped a new German comedy-thriller, Murder Mindfully on October 31, 2024 and it’s both funny and thrilling, making it a good watch for Halloween.
Based on the bestseller by Karsten Dusse by the same name, the premise of the show is rather unique. It follows Björn (Tom Schilling), a defense lawyer, who unexpectedly turns to murder while trying to find a work-life balance through classes on mindfulness.

The eight episode series is full of fun, yet dark elements, as it shows the character of Björn gradually developing various coping mechanisms, including murder, and getting away with it.
Besides Tom Schilling, the show also stars Emily Cox, Sascha Alexander Gersak, Michael Ihnow, and others. Martina Plura, Max Zähle, and Boris Kunz have directed the show.
With all the high profile murder Björn commits that eventually turns him to a mob mastermind, let us now explore the ending of Murder Mindfully and see if he gets caught for his actions.

Does Björn get away with the murders at the end of Murder Mindfully?
Björn, a mafia lawyer, stars in Murder Mindfully as a professional who is finding it extremely difficult to balance his personal life with his professional one.
His client, the mafia leader Dragan, keeps him extremely busy and he finds it difficult to make time for his wife and daughter, which negatively impacts his family life.
Seeing him struggle, his wife suggests he join a mindfulness class. While he is skeptical at first, he eventually gives the idea a nod and does enroll himself in that class. This brings in a transformation in him as he starts leading his daily life with a mindful approach.
For instance, Björn does turn into a murderer who kills Dragan, but he does so mindfully and also gives mindful reasons behind his actions.
Since his mindfulness class taught him that his wife and child were of his utmost importance and he should not pay heed to other aspects of life that keep him from them, he decides to kill his client since his work was constantly keeping him away from his family.
As the series progresses, Björn is seen to adapt his new mindful lifestyle in the most dangerous and drastic situations. He keeps calm even when he is interrogated by the police and has to lie.
He also keeps his cool when he is questioned by another mafia leader. The new mindful life gives him the ease of a psychopath when he is faced with dire situations like disposing off a corpse.
The best part is that Björn gets away with the murders of not one, but two mafia leaders, Dragan and Boris. He is then shown to be running both the rival gangs with the help of the severed thumbs of the mafia leaders.
He keeps those thumbs hidden in a box safely kept in his possession. Even with two murders, Police Inspector Nicole remains unsuccessful to find any concrete evidence that ties him directly to those crimes.

How did Björn turn into a murderer in Murder Mindfully?
Björn turning into a murderer somehow came as an after-effect of his mindfulness classes. The whole thing started because one weekend that Björn was supposed to spend with his daughter Emily, he gets a call from Dragan, asking him to meet him immediately.
Björn does not like the idea of him having to work while being with his daughter or Emily meeting Dragan. However, since he has no choice, he does go to meet Dragan and then hides him in his car’s trunk to take him along with him.
However, upon reaching the lake house where Emily and Björn were supposed to spend a quiet and peaceful evening, Björn decides not to take Dragan out of his car trunk. He remembers he was taught to be present in his mindfulness class and in order to be present for Emily with all his being, he had to leave Dragan there.
The mafia boss obviously dies inside the trunk as a result of suffocation. This is how Björn commits his first murder, all while keeping the whole thing very mindful.

Does Björn kill Boris as well in Murder Mindfully?
Though Björn does not exactly turn into a psychopathic killer, he does end up killing another person. He murders Boris, Dragon’s ex business partner, who eventually became his rival.
As Boris was pressuring Björn to make him set up a meeting with Dragan, Björn comes up with an elaborate plan to get rid of this problem.
By tricking Boris into believing that the police have evidence against him, he advises Boris to go into hiding and also offers to take him to Dragan. Boris, having no idea of Björn’s plans, agrees and like he did with Dragan, Björn gets Boris inside his trunk while he drives.
While Murder Mindfully does not vividly show how exactly Boris is killed, it can very well be assumed that Björn killed Boris in the same way as Dragan, suffocating him inside the trunk of his car.
With the police still being clueless about Dragan’s murder and unable to find anything against Björn, he mindfully runs the two rival gangs, while literally keeping them under their boss’ thumbs.
