Ever since Oscar Isaac first portrayed Marvel's Moon Knight in 2022, fans have been curious about Moon Knight Season 2. It introduced viewers to Steven Grant, a store clerk who, after finding himself to be much more than just a normal human being, lives his life on his head.

As seen in Moon Knight, Steven struggles to experience blackouts and strange memories that do not seem to belong to him. After the mystery, he finally learns about having dissociative identity disorder.

It is a condition of mental disorder where an individual has two identities. In Steven Grant's case, his alternate personality is Marc Spector, a former mercenary who had a problematic past.

As the series begins, Marc's troubled past comes to light. He was once a happy kid who had a brother named Randall. However, one day Randall died by drowning and their mother blamed Marc for the tragedy.

His life took a drastic change during a mission in Egypt, which resulted in Marc's death. However, after encountering the Egyptian god of the moon, Marc gets his life back, but on one condition: he must agree to become Khonshu's (the Egyptian God) warrior.

Marc agrees to the conditions and becomes Moon Knight. While in the present, Steven is unable to piece things together in his life and often lets Marc take charge as the super-powered warrior.

Since Season 1 ended on a cliffhanger about Marc's third personality, there has been speculation among fans for a potential Moon Knight Season 2. As of now, there's no confirmation about another chapter, there have been rumors about the TV series getting canceled.

However, director Mohamed Diab offered a small glimmer of hope during his interview with Deadline in 2024. He mentioned that there has been no discussion for a follow-up, but:

"You never know – with Marvel nothing is called finished. There could be a film, or he could go into another universe."

He continued:

"Right now nothing is in talks but definitely with Moon Knight, I would love to be involved in anything else and it could happen for sure. I have a great relationship with them."

While the director isn't sure about Moon Knight Season 2, he did mention a potential movie or the character appearing in another universe. Since Diab is on great terms with Marvel, who knows if the studio decides to make Moon Knight Season 2? However, it won't come out anytime soon.

What can be a potential plot for Moon Knight Season 2?

As seen in Moon Knight Season 1, Marc and Steven reached an understanding to work together in harmony. However, the post-credit revealed Marc has a third personality named Jake Lockley, who also exists in his body.

Not only this, but Lockley also killed Arthur Harrow when Marc and Steven backed out during the final battle. Unlike the two, Jake Lockley is brutal and fully aligned with Khonshu.

If Marvel decides to release Moon Knight Season 2, it can explore Marc and Steven facing the violent actions of the third personality. Since they exist in the same body, the three could face notable internal conflict or a fight for dominance.

Additionally, Lockley's true motives weren't disclosed in the finale, which becomes another major plot point to be explored. Not to forget that Arthur Harrow is dead, making room for the next big bad guy to step in.

If Moon Knight returns for Season 2 on Disney+, the most obvious cast member to reprise his role is Oscar Isaac. However, the first season is incomplete without other key characters like Harrow, Layla, Anton, and more.

Since Harrow met his end in the finale, it's hard to say if Ethan Hawke could return. As for the possible characters to show up, May Calamawy as Layla El-Faouly, Karim El Hakim, F. Murray Abraham as Khonshu, Díana Bermudez as Yatzil, Gaspard Ulliel as Anton Mogart, and Khalid Abdalla as Selim are expected to return for a potential Moon Knight Season 2.

The series was undeniably a unique project of Marvel that allowed Mohamed Diab to incorporate his unique style of direction. While Moon Knight's future is uncertain, there's still a door open for more action and intrigue.
