HBO is upping the ante with its upcoming original documentary Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery. The entertainment hub will highlight the enigmatic Bitcoin and its creator, Satoshi Nakamoto. Bitcoin can, quite literally, turn you into a millionaire or billionaire, given its current valuation in the economy.

Nakamoto invented and implemented this new form of electronic currency on January 3, 2009. Back then, it barely held the value of a dollar, but now, Bitcoin is worth a whopping $61,587 in the U.S.!

The inventor could’ve been richer than ever, so the question posed by HBO’s documentary is: why would a multi-billionaire suddenly disappear in 2011? Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery is directed by Emmy-nominated director Cullen Hoback, known for his works like Terms and Conditions May Apply, Friction, and Q: Into the Storm.

When will Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery release?

Per Warner Bros. Discovery, HBO’s Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery is slated to release on October 8, 2024. The documentary will debut at 9:00 PM ET and 10:40 PM PT respectively on HBO exclusively for now.
