Matlock started off as a reboot of the 1980s legal drama of the same name but has been able to create its own place in the audience’s heart with its fresh take on the genre. The show focuses on Madeline Kingston, a retired lawyer who joins a law firm under the alias Madeline "Matty" Matlock.
However, her real motive is to gather evidence about her daughter’s death, as she believes the firm’s partner was responsible for it. In the recent episode, Matty reached a step closer to her goal as Olympia and Julian got into a custody battle.
The upcoming episode is now scheduled to be released on February 27, 2025, and will showcase Matty’s grandson arriving at her law firm. Here are all the updates you need about Matlock episode 13.

Matlock Episode 13: Storyline
Titled Pregame, the 13th episode of the season will showcase what happens at Jacobson Moore when Matty brings her grandson, Alfie, to the office. The preview for the episode shows Matty introducing Alfie to her colleagues, while the teenager looks disinterested and is only concerned about the wi-fi.
However, it seems he might stir up some trouble at the law firm. At the same time, since Alfie is known for his genius mind and technical skills, he might help Matty in collecting the evidence of Julian’s deal with the pharmaceutical company, which led to Ellie’s death.
Matlock: What happened in the previous episode?
In Matlock episode 12, This is That Moment, Sarah wanted to fix things with Olympia and offered to babysit her kids. She also suggested a new strategy for their class-action cases, hoping to help Olympia become a partner.
Meanwhile, Edwin focused on finding the Wellbrexa marketing document, which proved the company knew opioids were addictive but still sold them aggressively. Matty suspected Shae had warned Senior, who then called Julian to cover it up.
On the other hand, Sarah kept trying to reconnect with Billy, but he did not want to be friends. Billy even ended up calling Sarah toxic over a misunderstanding but later apologized on realizing his mistake. Meanwhile, Matty was able to gain access to Julian’s keycard when she spilled coffee on him.
At the same time, Olympia worked on a custody case for Paloma, who was fighting her wealthy ex, Bruno. Julian represented Bruno and turned the case into a battle. After Paloma was caught at the airport with her son, Julian argued that full custody of their child should be given to Bruno.
The courtroom fight got so heated that the judge held both Olympia and Julian in contempt. In the end, they agreed on a fair custody arrangement. The incident reminded Matty of her own custody fight for Alfie. She remembered how she and Edwin got Alfie’s custody, unaware that their daughter had died.
