As the season is nearing its finale, fans took to social media to share their opinions about the show. Some even opened up about their rough experiences with the judicial system. Matlock's lead actor, Kathy Bates, opened up about going through such Reddit threads. She told Deadline in its Contender TV panel,
"There was a comment on the Reddit board about last week's episode. I'm not allowed to read Instagram or Reddit because I could see a gazillion of wonderful things, then I'll see one negative thing, and that's what I'll pick up on."
The Academy Award-winning actress, Kathy Bates, revealed that when she comes across negative comments, she tends to overthink. She continued,
"Although I hear that it's very human, so it makes me feel better."
Kathy Bates was joined by the show's executive producer, Jennie Synder Urman, for the event. Bates shared during the panel about a Reddit thread where a woman was deeply moved by Matlock's recent episode. Matlock, Episode 16, titled 'The Johnson Case', saw public defender Aminia come to seek help for the wrongful conviction of a man by Isabelle Sanchez and the jurors about 21 years ago. Bates told Deadline,
"This woman on the Reddit board said it really hit her hard because she had the same experience of being on a jury like that. So as a result of that, when she goes in to be called for jury duty, she explains this, and they don't take her."
In the interview, Kathy Bates revealed an interesting update about the next season of Matlock. Bates told that she will be directing an episode for the upcoming season. She also added how she loves working with Skye P. Marshalls, who plays Olympia, her boss and work friend.
