Kevin O'Leary, the Shark Tank investor, in a recent video on his Instagram account, shared his insight on successful charity fundraising. However, to gain the trust of donors and ensure that the money flows in at all times, these institutions must adopt strategies and measures.

His advice is focused on using social media and mastering the art to spread the word about their organization to others.

As per the view of the Shark Tank investor, navigating social media is a modern-day strategy for fundraising. This allows them to reach out to audiences from around the world. He says that just having an online presence is not good enough. It should be combined with effective communication.

Through this platform, the charities can create a narrative that would explain the mission and impact of it all. This will help them create an emotional connection with the people who would want to donate to their institution.

Explaining the same, Kevin says:

"Mastering social media. Mastering the ability to communicate the message. You need total transparency."

Shark Tank investor Kevin O'Leary, said that along with enhancing the social media performance, the charities should also work on creating transparency. He said that people can recognize anything false. Thus, these organizations must be upfront about their work and finances.

This will also help the donors realize and understand where the money they are giving away is being utilized. Talking about the same, Kevin says:

"People smell BS a mile away. You really wanna be transparent about what you're doing and show examples of what you've done and how you've marked and measured the achievement."

The Shark Tank investor then highlighted how we live in a digital age where it is easy to fake information. Thus, it is important to have testimonials from people whom the charities have helped so it sounds convincing to the donor.

These are the personal stories that humanize the entire cause and provide proof of the work done. These could be in the form of written content or videos. Kevin says:

"People are bombarded every day with opportunities to give to all kinds of causes. But are they real? And what evidence do you have that they're real? That's why, testimonials of real people matter. If you're putting out anything that's not true, you're gonna get slaughtered."

The last point highlighted by Shark Tank's Kevin O'Leary is how charities must own up to their mistakes if they have ever made one. How they handle these situations sends a message to the donors about the organization's reputation.

Kevin advocates for being as transparent as possible and taking accountability without any delays. This will show the integrity of the institution to the donors. Explaining, The Shark Tank investor said:

"And that's a mistake some institutions have made by not owning up to a mistake perhaps. Everybody makes mistakes. But you'd wanna be immediately transparent the moment it happens and say, 'This is what happened and this is what we're doing to fix it and I'm obviously apologizing for it. Didn't mean this to occur.'"

Shark Tank season 16 episodes are released weekly on ABC at 8 PM Eastern Time on Fridays. They are later available to watch on Hulu.
