In a delightfully unexpected turn of events, Married at First Sight Season 16 alum, Jasmine Secrest has announced her engagement with someone new – though she is keeping her mystery man's identity under wraps before the big day.

The Nashville native, who previously took the super bold step of marrying absolute stranger, Airris Williams, on the hit Lifetime show, Married at First Sight, shared the joyous news through a series of stunning engagement photos on Instagram (@_allthatjazzz).

In true modern romance fashion, Jasmine first teased her followers with a proposal video last week, following it up with professional photos where the couple coordinated in sleek all-black ensembles.

In the caption, Jasmine suggests that she has found the real deal this time around:

"Endlessly in love with you. Don't mind if 'I do.'"

Married at First Sight alum Jasmine Secrest’s journey from reality tv love to the real deal

Jasmine's journey to finding true love hasn't exactly been the smoothest of rides. Her stint on Married At First Sight Season 16 saw her pairing up with Airris Williams in what turned out to be more of a cautionary tale than a fairytale.

Despite Jasmine seemingly ticking all the boxes of what Airris claimed he was looking for, he dropped the not-so-subtle bomb that he wasn't attracted to her. Though they stuck it out until decision day – perhaps proving that hope springs eternal – both ultimately chose to end their marriage.

Since her time on Married at First Sight, Jasmine has taken a decidedly different approach to sharing her love life with the public – namely, by not sharing much at all. At the season 16 reunion, she played it coy when revealing she was dating someone special, keeping details under wraps.

Even during her appearance on Married at First Sight Season 18's "Kickoff Special," Jasmine Secrest maintained her poker face, confirming only that she was still with the same person.

Retaining privacy in the public eye

Now engaged, Jasmine's showing just a bit more of her cards, but still keeping her full hand close to her chest. While she is proudly sharing engagement photos with her more than 36,000 Instagram followers, her mystery fiancé remains untagged in the posts. It is a fascinating balance Secrest has struck, celebrating her joy with the fans who have followed her journey while maintaining the privacy she has come to value.

This well-thought-out approach to sharing her engagement news speaks volumes about the lessons learned from her televised marriage experience. Her determination to keep her fiancé's identity private suggests that perhaps having your love life broadcast to millions of viewers leaves some lasting impressions about the value of privacy.

However, unlike some reality TV alums who completely sprint away (more likely) from the spotlight, Jasmine has found a middle ground, sharing her happiness while protecting her relationship.

The platform she gained from Married at First Sight has given her a unique opportunity to control her narrative rather than have producers tell the tale this time. And, while she may eventually choose to reveal more about her future husband, for now, she is writing this love story on her own terms.

Married At First Sight airs on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EST on Lifetime.
