According to Deadline, the popular sitcom Malcolm in the Middle has fans buzzing with excitement ever since Disney+ announced a four-episode revival series through their social media.

According to 20th Television President, Karey Burke, in a statement about the revival wrote,

“Malcolm in the Middle literally changed the face of the television comedy landscape when it premiered two decades ago, redefining what the genre could be. When Linwood Boomer suggested it might be time to bring everyone’s favorite dysfunctional family back for a bit of a reunion, we couldn’t think of a more iconic and influential series to revisit, along with a truly brilliant cast to reunite.”

The sitcom debuted in 2000 and ran for seven seasons till 2006. The show follows the dysfunctional family of the child prodigy and middle son, Malcolm, who lives a chaotic life with his parents, Hal and Lois, and his four brothers.

The lead characters from the original series will reprise their roles for the revival, including Frankie Muniz as Malcolm, Jane Kaczmarek and Bryan Cranston as Malcolm's parents, and Christopher Kennedy Masterson and Justin Berfield as Malcolm's siblings.

Earlier, it was announced that actress Kiana Madeira would play Malcolm's girlfriend, Tristan. Now, the revival has added more faces to its cast, which includes Anthony Timpano, Vaughan Murrae, Caleb Ellsworth-Clark, and Keeley Karsten.

More on Malcolm in the Middle revival's new cast additions in our story.

Who are the new faces joining the Malcolm in the Middle revival?

While Malcolm in the Middle will bring back almost all of the main cast, some of the characters have been re-casted, and new additions have been made to the existing cast.

Earlier, it was confirmed that actor Erik Per Sullivan, who played Dewey in the show, will not reprise his role. This was also because Sullivan gave up acting shortly after the show's conclusion in 2006 and has been absent since, even in cast reunions, as seen on social media.

It looks like the show has cast another actor to play Dewey in the Malcolm in the Middle revival. Actor Caleb Ellsworth-Clark will play Malcolm's sibling. He is best known for Fargo, Joe Pickett, and Nightmare Alley.

Further cast additions include actor Anthony Timpano, best known for shows like DC's Legends of Tomorrow and Riverdale, who will play the character of Malcolm's youngest brother, Jamie. His character was introduced in Season 4.

Actress Vaughan Murrae, best known for The Way Home and Before I Change My Mind, will play the role of Kelly. She is Malcolm's youngest sibling, hinted in the series finale, when her parents were expecting their sixth child.

Finally, actress Keeley Karsten, best known for Adult Best Friend and The Fablemans, will play the character of Malcolm's daughter, Leah. Since the revival is based on Malcolm and his daughter getting entangled in their family dynamics (again), she will be a main character in the revival.

What is the Malcolm in the Middle revival series about?

While the series ended on a definitive note back in 2009, fans wanted to know more about Malcolm's family, which is why Disney+ greenlit it for a four-episode revival series.

The series will feature Malcolm's parents, Hal and Lois' 40th wedding anniversary, where he will be accompanied by his daughter and girlfriend. It will be interesting to see what more chaos will unfold with the new character additions and whether the show will be able to rework the magic of the original show.

The official character description for Kelly reads as follows:

“the youngest child of Lois and Hal, who is self-sufficient, gets good grades and already wiser than most of the family.”

Leah's character description reads as follows:

“the daughter of Malcolm and has the same sarcastic humor, same impulsiveness and the same frighteningly high intelligence as him, but she’s far more sensitive and emotional.”
