Shark Tank investor Lori Greiner shared an Instagram clip on March 27, 2025, recalling how she made over 200,000 earrings with her hands. The female entrepreneur discussed that when starting a business, individuals must do everything themselves rather than hiring people.

She referred to it as "do it all." That's how businesses go from scratch. Lori Greiner recalled an incident where, after working so hard, her fingers started bleeding, and still, with band-aids, she kept on going. Shark Tank mentor recalled the incident and what followed after that:

"When you start a business, you have to do whatever it takes. I used to, I didn't have money to pay staff, to crop things for me, or make things for me, or do calls for everything. I had to do it all. At one time, I made over 200,000 earrings by hand to hang on my products so each one would look good."

Shark Tank's Lori Greiner recalls an incident from her early days, mentioning how entrepreneurs need to keep going no matter the hardships

Once, with a time-sensitive order of 200,000 handmade earrings, Lori Greiner took on the opportunity and gave her all to the task. Even after her fingers started to bleed, she put band-aids on them and kept on going. It was because she wanted her products to look good. As the Shark Tank investor stated, the moral of that incident was to "do it all" by ourselves.

She was referring to the business startups where entrepreneurs have to manage multiple things by themselves. She stated that it was all about the "attention" to detail and how much one "cares" for their assigned work.

"I made so many pairs of those earrings that my fingers were actually bleeding because I had a time parameter in which to make them by. I didn't have time for my fingers to take ill. I just had them band-aided up and go, go, go. That's the way it goes. It's the attention to detail. It's the care," she added.

The lesson to be learned here is that, to be your "own boss" individuals need to be "willing" to do whatever it takes. While jobs often have fixed timings, being an entrepreneur requires working on weekends and nights and managing everything alone.

Initially, that was how one can "save" money while starting a business. On top of that, entrepreneurs also need to ensure that everything is done "right."

"But you have to be willing, when you're your own boss, to do whatever it takes, work weekends, work nights, and to do things yourself. That's how you save money. That's how you get ahead. And that's how you make sure that everything is done right."

She captioned the video clip with a question for entrepreneurs and asked if they were "willing" to do "whatever" it takes.
