Netflix aired Love Never Lies: South Africa on November 29, 2024, featuring six couples. The contestants came to the show to test their relationships with their partners. The lie detector challenges resulted in shocking revelations and confrontations.

The Love Never Lies: South Africa host Minnie Dlamini shared that the participants' honesty and faithfulness would be tested. After separating from their partners, contestants will be tempted by "sexy singles."

As the show's debut episode premiered, the host shared about the format of the show,

"The rules are simple. Throughout the show, each couple will answer questions about their relationship. Based on their eye movements, EyeDetect will verify what's true and what's not. But the stakes are not just emotional because there's big money to be won. Truth adds money to the prize pot. Lies take money away. The couple that lies the least walks away with up to one million rand."

Love Never Lies: South Africa Episode 1: Couples introduction, rule sharing, and more

Love Never Lies: South Africa's first episode featured six couples:

  1. Munaka and Gontse,
  2. Clayton and Wildfred,
  3. Lynn and Kuda,
  4. Naledi and Nikiwe,
  5. Pretty and Siya,
  6. Nancy and Bohlale.

Munaka and Gontse were the first to arrive at the Love Never Lies: South Africa villa, while Clayton and Wildfred joined them later. Soon, Lynn and Kuda joined them. The fourth couple was Naledi and Nikiwe. The following couples to arrive were Pretty-Siya and Nancy-Bohlale.

As the host, Minnie Dlamini, revealed,

"Six couples came here to test the strength of their relationships. They're about to put each other through a grueling challenge, which will either build their partnerships or break them. They have no idea how difficult this task will be, but they are about to find out."

Soon, show host Minnie joined the participants and welcomed them. She also shared about having the most advanced lie detector for their game of honesty.

The Love Never Lies: South Africa host revealed that EyeDetect could detect even the "tiniest lie." She also discussed the possibility of winning the cash prize, which started at 500,000 rand.

"But you can increase this amount up to one million rand," the host shared.

The host further mentioned that lies will deduct the money, while truth will add it to the collective prize pot. Additionally, the couple that "lies the least" will have the chance to walk away with the prize pot.

After exploring the villa, some participants sat down in one of the rooms while the rest of the contestants gathered in the living area. Participants from both groups discussed the lies they had told their partners.

Love Never Lies: South Africa's first Love Never Lies ceremony

Later that night, Love Never Lies: South Africa participants attended their first-ever "Love Never Lies Ceremony." The host welcomed the contestants and reminded them to be honest because, depending on their honesty, the prize pot would have the final amount.

She shared that a single truth would add 10,000 rands to the prize pot; similarly, a single lie would deduct the same amount.

Munaka and Gontse were the first ones to take the test. Munaka's answer to kissing another man during her three-week break from Gontse, which was yes, turned out to be the truth. As for Gontse, the question was:

"Have you had s** with Munaka's best friend?"

Gontse's answer was yes, which EyeDetect confirmed. As both answers were correct, 20,000 rands were added to the prize pot.

Naledi's answer was wrong, so 10,000 rands were deducted. Nikiwe answered yes, which revealed that she had feelings for her ex-fiance. It was true, so 10,000 rands were added.

"I think the two of you need to school me. You have so many monogamous issues but how you define your relationship is the complete opposite," the host told the couple.

Pretty and Sia were up next. Both of the participants' answers turned out to be lies, which deducted a total of 20,000 rands from the pot.

The next pair were Wilfred and Clayton. Wilfred's answer was a lie, which deducted 10,000 rands. Clayton's answer was a truth, which added 10,000 rands.

Bohlale and Nancy's answers: His "no" was a lie, while hers was a "yes," which was the truth. Bohlale's lie deducted 10000 and then added 10000 for Nancy's truth. The prize pot at this point was 500,000 rands.

Next up were Lynn and Kuda. Lynn's "no" was a lie, while Kuda's "no" was also a lie. As a result, 20000 rands were deducted from the prize pot for two lies.

Love Never Lies: South Africa Episode 1 ended before the host could ask anything about the lie shared by Kuda.
