"Life's divine timing": Shark Tank investor Jamie Kern Lima recalls the number of "No's" she received in her career

Recently joined Shark Tank investor Jamie Kern Lima shared an Instagram clip on January 31, 2025, and opened up about life's "divine timing." The reality show mentor talked about facing many No's while building her cosmetic brand.

The Shark Tank mentor was on the show's set, where she had to give some of the people No's, which she shared via the clip. Further, she talked about how people should not let other people's doubts in their minds and keep doing what they have been doing.

Sharing about how important it is to trust life's divine timing, Jamie Kern Lima captioned the clip with:

"Trusting in life's divine timing is sooooo important!! I'm AS grateful for the No's I got along the way while building IT Cosmetics as I am for the Yeses."

Shark Tank investor Jamie Kern Lima opens up about facing rejections and "No's" from various aspects of life

IT Cosmetics co-founder Jamie Kern Lima recently joined the ABC Network's Shark Tank. In a recently shared Instagram clip, the mentor opened up about how everyone should take "No's" and how important they are in one's career.

She expressed how she wanted to invest in "everybody," but she had to give some of the participants "No's."

"I am on the set of Shark Tank, and I wanna invest in everybody, but unfortunately, we have to give people no's today. And y'all the number of "No's" I got in my career so far. The number of no's I got building IT cosmetics, the number of people that didn't believe in me at the time and I just always believed that rejection is God's protection. Like at the time it sucks."

She further stated:

"At the time, it hurts, right? But the most important thing is to have that trust. Whether it's in your faith, in the universe, whatever you know is true for you. But to have that trust and divine protection, I think it's so important because you cannot let other people's no's and doubt about you turning a doubt in your head. That is the key, it'll take you down every time, all the time."

Later in the clip, she stated that along with some "No's," she also gave away some people's "Yes'es." She advised individuals to believe in the "divine timing." She recalled how her cosmetic brand, IT Cosmetics, was on the verge of bankruptcy.

However, from those "No's," she has come so far that her company now has over a thousand employees, and she also mentioned "Selling it for $1.2 billion cash." She stated that if she hadn't gotten those "No's," then there was a chance that she might not have reached where she is right now.

The Shark Tank mentor mentioned that along her "journey," if anyone had said a "Yes" earlier before those No's, then she might have turned in a "different direction." Further in the clip, she talked about closed doors:

"Well, along that journey, so many people said no, but had they said yes earlier, I probably would have given up the majority of my company, or I would have taken a turn in a different direction, or any number of things could have happened. When I look back, I thank God for the no's and the closed doors as much as I do for the yes'es and the open doors."

Jamie Kern Lima concluded the video by sharing that people should not let other's "doubts" in their heads, whether business or life.
